Medical forms to go back to work

My husband goes back to work on Monday. He had to fill in a long form saying he or anyone he lives with is not extremely vulnerable or vulnerable, luckily we’re not or he wouldn’t be able to go back and would stay on furlough. It just makes me think if you have health issues, companies are going to choose not to have you back as you or anyone you live with is a risk.

To protect you... And try and keep you and your family safe they may keep you on furlough if they can...
Personally I'd be happy with that from an employer

The form doesn’t bother me as we are healthy, i’m glad my husband has a job to go back to as many won’t.

I was wondering if workplaces would do this. I think it's good if workplaces take things like this into consideration to try keep their employees safe.

I imagine some will get told they work at their own risk with no other options.

I’m meh about that
My workplace had been asking about our private medical history for months before the virus

I'm shielding and work asked for a copy of my shielding letter which I sent over. No issues, and they've set me up to WFH even though none of us normally do. No questions asked and I'll be back when shielding is lifted

What if the job you do, you can’t work from home?

Then they should keep you on furlough I think as you can't work. The letter acts as a "sick note" until the 30th June at the minute

What if in the mean time they get someone else without health issues and you don’t have a job to go back to?

It's all what if I guess. They would have a hard time dismissing you with the shielding letter. I declared my condition at interview which has paid off for me a lot when I was off unwell with it. But my company are flexible, my job usually can't be done from home but they don't want rid of me and they want me to have a full wage so they've set it up
There's a lot of people in the same situation, think the last count was 2.5m shielding Sad

There are 40 people who are furloughed who all do a similar job, only 3 are going back to work on Monday, they will stager the rest of the staff starting if the work comes in. I’m guessing they will make at least 10 people redundant
