How many times have you had to self isolate? (Key workers especially)

I feel like this is just taking the piss now. This will be my 3rd time off. There are 5 of us. I am an nhs key worker. My youngest child developed a cough on 17th March which necessitated 2 weeks off work.
Then on 3rd May I developed a cough (sti have the cough!). I was tested the next day and had a negative result. As I only work 3 days, it ended up me not being in for a week as the cough developed on my working days. I offered to work extra days later in the week but it wasn't required. Btw I was well enough physically to work during the cough. I never became unwell.
Tonight my eldest and youngest children have started coughing continuously. Again, both are well. It's just a cough.

So yet again, it involves me being off work.

I'm mortified. I've only been at the trust since last July.

Please tell me I'm just really unlucky? In my team of 10, one has been off once. One has been off twice, and now there is me with three absences. No one else has been off, including those who have families like mine.

I feel like the weakest link. I've asked can I work from home tomorrow (it's possible if others do swaps of work with me) and hopefully I can get both tested first thing tomorrow, and get the result first thing friday so I can work the rest of thtmat day. I luckily have a day off on thursday.

That’s very unfortunate- I haven’t been off yet but I was tested as part of a random sample. There has been clusters where I work but none within my team,yet...

Just finished my second, first right st the start as DS had mild symptoms for two days. Again last week as I had fever and other weird symptoms but tested negative. Really hoping no one else gets any in the next few weeks! Four colleagues (out of maybe 30 in the GP surgery) have been off once.

Doctor on covid wards: haven't self isolated once. Most seem to have had it but by this point I'm fairly sure I've had it asymptomatically.

Once. I have however not seen my family (including my children) since lockdown. I got shipped out to protect them.

Twice, first time I had tonsillitis, but I came down with the fever right at the beginning and that was during the "entire household for 14 days" second time was for DS who decided about 3 weeks ago to have a random fever and then evening of vomiting to be fine the next day, but my employers wanted him tested , it came back negative.

Two part-time in essential shops and DH working one day a week. None of us have had to isolate.

I work in a school of 24 members of staff and only 2 have needed to isolate and only once each.
Honestly - 3 times does seem a lot.
I think a lot of people isolated at the beginning too quickly if I'm honest -
However if you get tested and it's negative it's only 3 days off isn't it? So it's not like you're having 2 weeks off each time.

CPN. Not had to self isolate yet.

But the only people in my house are me and my husband. As he's retired, he has less opportunity than me in coming into contact with coronavirus and we both have strong immunities.

I think the nhs need to adjust the health criteria so that no one is isolating for 2 weeks for causes that are obviously non covid, like hayfever.

This is what worries me about the app if I’m honest. Having to all isolate for however long it takes us to get test results, over and over, because others have a cold with a cough and report it on the app, and I’ve stood next to them in the Tesco queue....

Once, work in school, began coughing randomly, nothing else. Test came back Not Clear, so had to isolate for 7days and the rest of my family 14 days.

At least the children can be tested now as so you will be able to find out if you need to be continue to isolate.

As children of key workers they are entitled to priority testing- up to 4 from gjr household at a time can go. When my DD had a temp we were all tested bar the under 5 one. So you dont need to worry if it's not covid you can go back

OH & I are keyworkers, have worked throughout the lockdown. We have two kids and our youngest has been going to nursery throughout the lockdown as well. Despite us seemingly being at high risk of catching it as a family, none of us have displayed any symptoms at all during the lockdown period. I suspect we have had it before or asymptomatically during lockdown or we are just lucky 🤷🏻‍♀️

School staff here - we've had to isolate twice after youngest dc had a fever. He's 4, he starts reception in September mixing with loads of other kids, under 5 so cannot be tested, if we are going to have to isolate for 14 days everytime his temp goes above 37.8 I can't see myself being in work much over the next 6 months.

Once, but only for 4 days when DC1 had a fever. Managed to get her tested the following day then a couple of days wait for the result.

Hoping DC2 doesn't get symptoms though. My 10 year old managed to do the swab on herself but I don't see a 7 year old managing it or allowing me anywhere near her tonsils with a long stick.

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt they told me that if my 4 year old was closer to 5 than 4 they would do it. Also, if your child has a temperature, after 3 days they will test you and if you are negative you can go back to work. The 14 days is so you can wait to see if you develop symptoms not to see if you contract it so if you have a negative test you don't need to worry.

Not once yet. Dp is a key worker and dd is 3 so I think we’ve been pretty lucky!

We have had to twice. Once I had a wierd cough at the start but was never really ill so I felt a bit of a fraud having a week off! A few weeks later dp became ill with most of the symptoms of CV and spent 2 weeks in bed, thankfully we never needed any medical attention. Despite both being keyworkers (supermarket and NHS) we weren't tested so can't say he's had it. We're both worried if either of us was to be ill again we would be stuck isolating again, though at least tests are more available now.

Once in March and again this week. We definitely had c-19; I had breathless but have no health issues and am never ill, as well as all other classic c-19 symptoms plus chronic fatigue for weeks after. But again now, 2.5 weeks back into what I thought was finally back to school DS had temperature last week and started coughing about 2 days later (she’s coughing more than with covid it wld seem). Got test done today. Hoping results won’t be late...Will do my nut if have to self isolate more than another 2 days after the 8 weeks actual covid exhaustion and uselessness in Spring. Also feeling unlucky on this one! We usually never catch anything bar seasonal cold once a year.....this is unprecedented and I was already so behind on everything. Realise the civic duty etc etc but so fed up......
