After a campaign of fear when they wanted us to stay in, they now want us back o work and school so sad I predicted, the good news stories and it’s safe stories are becoming prevalent. I was told ‘they don’t print good news stories’. There are many ways to brainwash convince the public get to do what you want

You can see all the paid posters on here too, pushing the same line.

Oh really effing- I am fairly new to MN, didn’t realise there were paid posters. So naive!

Yes, a good way to spot a ‘paid poster’ is if their opinion doesn’t tally with yours. If it’s different they’re obviously being paid by some very organised yet shadowy group who believes Mumsnet drives general public opinion.

Is this true ?
I have never even considered this.

Reverse Ferret! A lot of posters will be doing the same.

This is stupid. I disagree with you and am a long-standing poster who would never vote for the current torres due to Brexit. But I am also concerned about the complete economic collapse of the country.

Anyone with a different opinion is a paid poster from a shadowy group?!
WTF, I've heard it all now lol.

Don’t be daft, there are no ‘paid posters’

All good dictators know that the best way to control a population is through the media. Control the information fed to your population and you control the population.

I have a suspicion that they over inflated the death figures early on so that they could then under inflate them when it suited them.

Do you think that's a bad thing OP? I'm glad of some balance myself.

I saw this www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52758024 today, and guess it is the sort of thing you mean. I find it reassuring.

@LemonadeAndDaisyChains - I think Changed was being sarcastic. Anyway my opinion is different to whatever someone else's is- when do I get paid?

If I'm a government stooge I'd like my cheque post haste PS Dominic Cummings is a really honourable man.

If you got paid every time you disagreed with people on MN I'd be a millionaire by now lol

Paid posters. Hmm

I wasn't thrilled about lockdown in the first place and I'm more than ready for it to end. Also want my DS back at school. I wish I was getting paid to say that as my job is at risk!

If we were paid, we would all be praising Dominic Cumming's 'instincts'.

Clearly a paid poster if you have such trivial worries like putting a roof over your head or food on the table 🤔

Perhaps it's just true that there are less cases of the virus now!

At the start of lock down I knew several people that had the virus.... now I don't know anyone that has it presently and the local hospital is empty (great) so perhaps it's true there are less cases (despite the doom and gloom merchants shouting about a wave after the VE day celebrations - they were wrong).

Surely we should hear the good news and that the number of infections is falling or would you prefer them to keep saying that infection rates are rising when they are not?

Report
TeenPlusTwenties · 24/05/2020 19:20

Well, I think lockdown was needed, probably a week or two earlier than it happened.
I also think that now things are more under control and better understood and managed, that things need to be gently relaxed.

I don't think there is any contradiction in those two beliefs.
