Covid

What is your risk - really?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I haven't seen it, and though people might find it interesting.

There is a new tool being beta-tested that compares your risk of dying anyway this year, and defines what the additional risk of dying this year of Covid-19 related illness is:

covid19-phenomics.org/PrototypeOurRiskCoV.html

I think some people might find it illuminating. It runs simulations for different scenarios too, such as doing nothing and total /partial lockdowns.

It's an interesting link, but as so many of the known comorbities (such as the shielded cancers) are omitted from the drop down menu, it's only if limited use

When I click on the link it’s all greyed out so I can’t access it unfortunately.

I think the omission of the most serious comorbidities is intentional, since chances of dying this year are very high to start off with, and a tool that tells you that will not be terribly welcome! Even if you already know there's a good chance of dying, you won't want to be told the odds, I suspect. It's really intended for the wider population who need to think about risk assessments for themselves.

Works for me on both desk top and iPad. There's an introductory box that comes up first which does grey out the background main screen until you select the background. Just chucking or tapping on it brings it up for me.

It's browser dependent it seems, works on chrome and not on safari

Also the default slider setting is not set at the most likely value for overall death rate , it may need to go quite a way to the right ...certainly if they still believe over 500,000 could die in the no action scenario
