Has anyone else signed up for the vaccine trial?

I filled the form out last night. Passed initial screening and it says someone will be in touch. Though they won’t be able to ring me as the stupid form wouldn’t let me put my whole phone number in!

Amazing thing to do, we need more people like you.

I would love to sign up for this but I'm a single parent and have no one to look after DS while I attend the appointments. I don't think I'd be allowed to take him along.

I tried, but wasn’t able to proceed due to having Factor V Leiden so higher risk of blood clots. My parents are signed up to biobank and I’ve signed up via their invitation for the monthly research blood tests instead.

I looked at this but don't live in any of the right areas, unfortunately. I would otherwise.

I admire people who do this. I'll have the vaccine if one comes available, although the thought of the needle terrifies me but there's no way I could take part in a trial.

I’m a bit concerned to read in the DM online (I know) that all the monkeys they’ve given the vaccine to have caught corvid19. Am hoping that’s not true, The Times isn’t reporting that so I’m assuming it’s DM twaddle.

Damn no option for those living in Kent
I’d totally do it

@JacobReesMogadishu - I think they caught it when exposed to it but that the infection did not reach their lungs, it stayed in their nasal tract?

Signed up! Ive got a shielding husband so desperate to reduce the risk to him. If it works I can go back to work and escape the house!!

@MabelX. Oh, that makes sense. Thanks.

@lockdownbreakdown well done. Fingers crossed you get accepted and get the vaccine, not the placebo.

@JacobReesMogadishu

The monkeys were exposed to a much higher level of covid-19 than what humans are normally exposed to and no sign of lung damage. That is reassuring and a positive point from their study.

Placebo is Men ACWY which usually costs £100 and is worth having anyway so everyone is a winner!

I would but nothing in my area. I looked at the nearest area to me but you have to live in the area. I also have asthma so not sure I would be accepted.

@AdalindMeisner

Nope, asthma sufferers not able to take part. I have asthma and did not pass screening.

Oh, I passed the screening but it didn't ask about asthma. I'm very mildly asthmatic and high BMI so unlikely they'd accept me.

@stuckindoor77

I applied on the first phase of the trial and there was definitely a screening question asking about asthma which is why I was rejected. I've noticed with this phase there is not an asthma question. But the information sheets for this phase does exclude people with respiratory conditions.

Just checked, hoping to sign up, but not available in my area.
Thank you to everyone who does take part.

I'm pregnant so won't be signing up (don't think they'd accept me) and DH has moderate asthma so he won't be signing up (I assume they wouldn't take him either)
I'm so glad there are people willing and able to do it though. Well done op.

@lockdownbreakdown
The way i think it works is you have to be going about and potentially catch it which i assume you wouldnt be if shielding family member?
Also as op say the trial on monkeys showed they might be able to spread it to others still so incl your dp when they do catch the virus.

Oooh I live in the right area and am eligible. Thanks OP.

Just wondering now how work will react if I get accepted onto the trial and need to take time off. I assume I will have to use holiday hours.

Yes I have! Bit worried about the full medical assessment tbh 😬, never mind the actual vaccine.
