Covid

Would a pregnancy-style coronavirus test solve some lockdown dilemmas?

And could you see it being used in all kinds of social and public settings?

Eg

  • Testing negative just before you have a dental procedure
  • When you arrive at an airport (this is already happening in Hong Kong but results take eight hours)
  • Say once a week for school children
  • Before you meet up with a household
  • Before being admitted to large indoor events

Etc?

Over the next six weeks they’ll be trialling these 20 minute tests, and there’s talk of saliva tests too now. It’s not inconceivable that this would happen before the end of the year and have a huge impact on easing restrictions.

I think it would be great

I think it would have its uses definitely. It will depend on how reliable it is and the follow up needed (would you be required to take another NHS/government test etc.) and the practicalities around that.
