Did George Eustice and Prof Dame Angela McLean admit to murder???

They just said that elderly WERE discharged to care homes whilst being asymptomatic in the "early days" Whilst we knew it was happening this is the first I've actually heard them admit to it.... They were in fucking hospital. Fucking test them you stupid fucking bastards 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Why should the op calm down, the way care homes and their occupants and families of those occupants have been treated is a disgrace.
This government needs to be held accountable for that.
Shame on them

I think that in the early days and large number of people who went into hospital with covid, then developed it. They were discharged into the community as well.

I agree the way our elderly and most vulnerable have been treated is unforgivable

I personally don't find it funny when I buried my grandmother last Wednesday after dying alone in a care home. They have just said "asymptomatic patients were not tested in the early days before being discharged". Why the fuck not?? Fuck the elderly, they are expendable.

Im so sorry for your loss op and agree. The nhs is accountable for an atrocity allowing this to happen but its no suprise they have always done it. When i worked in care homes the hospitals were forever sending them back with c diff and other infections and superbugs which spread to others. The way these people are treated is shocking and more needs to be done to address it.

Asymptomatic as in had no symptoms and therefore no reasonable suspicion of infection.

At a time when there were limited tests available, they simply wouldn't have had enough tests to use on asymptomatic discharges.

Since when was that a secret? They sent the elderly to care homes trying to free up beds

There’s nothing you can Do about it now - the times last so you have to just get over it! They can’t go back To march and test people Ffs

It is a disgrace and a reckoning will be made at some point in the future.

The facts, bare and bald, speak for themselves, there's no need to over inflate language because hyperbole can tip into inaccuracy and tempt people into arguing over things like - is it really murder, do you mean that - which detracts imo.

Confused

The hospital discharge requirements have been on the government website since 19 March and the care home admissions guidance since 2 April. Both are still available now:

In the early days only people with symptoms were tested as they didn’t have enough lab capacity to test absolutely everyone for covid. I’m not saying this is right but that is the reasoning behind it.

Report
Greysparkles · 19/05/2020 17:56

They weren't tested because they were not showing symptoms.

In the early days a test could take a long time to come back, you underestimate how many "healthy" people would have been kept in the hospital whilst waiting for a test.

You could also ask why care homes didn't isolate residents coming back from hospitals

Alot of mistakes were made, we all know this. Nobody deliberately set out for this to happen, not the government, doctors or care staff.

I understand your anger, I really do. But anger can not change what has already happened

They soon found 100,000 of them to hit the target at the end of April though. 🤔

Yes as they spent alot of April ramping up production lines, sorting rest centres, mobile labs etc.
This stuff doesn't happen instantly, no matter how much we want it to

”asymptomatic patients were not tested in the early days before being discharged". Why the fuck not??

Because, as they had no symptoms, they didn’t know they had it. Testing was only carried out on people who had symptoms.

I think people should be kinder in their responses to op who is grieving her recently deceased grandmother. Of course we should give her leeway with her language under such circumstances. Imagine if it was any other demographic other than elderly how many people would feel the same.

Report
Wheresthebiffer2 · 19/05/2020 18:02

It is widely known isn't it. This happened. Elderly patients were discharged despite having symptoms, presumably not ill enough for requiring hospital care, and sent to the care homes untested. Yes, unbelievable, but it is true.

Report
NaturalBornWoman · 19/05/2020 18:04

Lots of elderly people remain in hospital past the time they need medical treatment due to lack of available support on discharge. A hospital isn’t a good place for them to be if they don’t need medical treatment, and this is especially true when hospitals are likely to become an even greater infection risk than usual. It isn’t innately wrong to try to discharge as many as possible in the circumstances, although if there were a significant number who were asymptomatic carriers that’s a problem obviously.
