Asthma and returning to school

Apologies if there is already a thread on this, I searched but couldn't fine one. My DS2 is in Reception. He has mild asthma - he takes a preventive inhaler (low dose) daily. I can't remember the last time he needed his blue inhaler and it's at least 18 months since he last had any oral steroids. When the guidance for who is high risk was first published, mild asthma wasn't included. However, there is now a 'moderate risk' list which does include mild chronic asthma.
I'm awaiting a call from our GP to discuss with him on whether my son should be returning to school. I'm thinking not! Before he was diagnosed he ended up in high-dependency in hospital with a chest infection, but since then it's been very well controlled.

Has anyone had any medical input for a similar situation? I know kids can grow out of childhood asthma, but I don't want Coronavirus to be the test for my little guy to see if he has outgrown it or not.
