Ice cream man

What would you think to him back out delivering Ice creams.

I wouldn't let mine have one but there were quite a few people there. More than usual. It's on my normally us that go.

I'm not sure how we could have bought one without being in close contact plus he would have been seeing customers all afternoon / dealing with money etc

Was I unreasonable?

Please no bashing it's a genuine question.

I would be fine, I have let mine have a cake from the local bakery. We use hand gel before eating and otherwise good to go. Obviously depends how you feel about risk (I do think risk to kids is low. Once hands are clean even less so and nice to have something fun and normal)

Don’t it’s about your own risk assessment but take hand sanitizer if you can get some we take a bottle on every trip and it provides piece of mind should any firm of snacking be necessary (and with mine two it often is 😂)

I wouldn't have a problem with that. Wish we had a ice cream van🍦🍦.

I've ordered cupcakes from a friend on Facebook cant bloody wait for them to be delivered.

What’s the difference with going into the local shop? We need to dial down the hysteria.

I wouldn't allow it. I would normally but often ice cream vans handle cash and don't clean their hands before picking the next cone up.

I'd think it was good for the guy to be trading and maintaining his income and good for his customers to have a treat. I wish there was an ice cream van round my way - I'd really love an oyster.

I hope ours comes back round soon.

I don’t let my children have one but I generally don’t think they are the most hygienic things anyway!

Think I'd have to see how he was handling the cash and the cones first. There was an ice cream van around here earlier but it didn't come up our street - just heard it.

I had one a week ago. No CV symptoms so I reckon it was OK.

Our ice cream man takes contactless card payments

I'm ridiculously happy he's back out -feels like a small glimmer of normality

I've seen loads in our area. I would have got some but you have to precook them now and they come to your house. My children watched jealously as the next door neighbours collected theirs from him!

We book our ice cream man to come to the house. So much easier.

Ours is only using card atm. We have been there and it was a lovely treat at this time of few pleasant surprises and happiness for the kids!

We’ve had one near us, madness.
2 of them in van , accepting cash! A few families huddled forgetting Social distance in their stampede !
There is no way I would put my family at risk by doing this.
There’s ice cream in our fridge

You might not have but what is the difference?

Rubyred24 · 17/05/2020 23:05

I suppose in a shop I'd use a card. I don't know though that's why I asked on here.

Ours have been around all weekend too.
I've told the kids we can't possibly social distance so no way - tbh this is just so that they are not asking me 40 times a day 😂

But someone will handle the produce. I used contactless for. £1.70 purchase at the ice cream can.

Report
Dancingalong · 17/05/2020 23:22

Ours has a Perspex screen with only a small slot for handing out ice creams, wears gloves and accepts contactless payment. I was dubious at first but after realising this I caved and we’ve all been fine since.
