Covid

Am I frontline?

I'm interested as to what people's perceptions are.
I'm a community physio in a rehab service. My team is now rapid response / discharge support / admission avoidance. We're here to support the hospital to clear beds quickly so they have capacity. This includes patients with a COVID diagnosis, and still within the official infectious period.
So I think I'm frontline. But then I'm not sure if others would agree. Is frontline just the staff working on the wards with the acutely unwell?
What do people think?

Not sure - I think they class frontline as being in ICU on the ward - though I thank you for what you're doing.

I'd say you are front line as you're seeing patients face to face and actively helping to avoid admission (NHS manager here).

Stay safe x

I think anyone having contact with a patient or carrying out their main duties in the same environment is frontline covid diagnosis or not.

@thelockdownbellyisoutofcontrol

Your definitely front line as my teen DD works in a supermarket and she is considered front line.

Yes you are most definitely front line. Enabling raid discharge and preventing admissions is more important than ever at the moment.

Frontline means working directly with covid patients what ever environment that might be in. You are absolutely front line.

Yes definitely.
I echo PP thank to you (and to all frontline workers including non medical like delivery, supermarket, pharmacy, etc).

@ToffeeYoghurt

Thank you for thanking frontline workers, my teen DD would appreciate that as she works in a supermarket and is struggling at the moment.

You’re frontline and you’re doing a fantastic job. Thank you so much.

@Ellietotherescue7 I’m another who thinks supermarket workers (and anyone else whose carried on doing their job to keep us all ticking over in during this crisis) are front line and I’m awestruck at the fact they keep going when they could walk away. I haven’t got the words to describe how much I appreciate it but I hope that I show it every time I have to benefit from their work by taking every precaution I can.

I know it’s not as simple as walking away for many (I’m back office NHS and seriously considered my options but bills need paying) but no matter their reason for continuing to turn up it takes a huge amount of courage and I hope that there’s a wider respect at the very least for people who have public facing roles after this.

I think so!

Yes, yes and thrice yes.

(And @Ellietotherescue7 - please tell your daughter from me that I'm core NHS, treating patients, and I have every respect for those working in supermarkets and care workers. Both groups are paid peanuts compared to me, don't get the professional respect I do, and are working just as hard with just as much risk. Good for your daughter, because I don't think I could do it.)

Thank goodness for people like your DD @Ellietotherescue7 I mean that. I'm so grateful to everyone working on the frontline, facing the public, all for the benefit of the rest of us. I'm sorry she's struggling. I hope it helps her to know how appreciated her and her colleagues are by the rest of us.
