Some people want the death rate to go back up

Well looks like lockdown has ended. Went to the doctors today and saw 3 groups of teenagers together at least 5 per group and obviously no social distancing. Two men chatting over a gate, again no distance and next door having their grandchildren over.
It's exactly what I knew would happen. Measures relax slightly and people take the piss. I know people will say it's none of my business but actually it is.
First it's everyone's business because this is the reason we can't control the virus.
Secondly I had to go to the doctors for my health but at the same time deal with idiots who just don't care about putting others at risk.
If this is happening everywhere as I suspect don't worry about shops reopening or children going back to school as the death rate will shoot up again and we'll be back in lockdown.
Would love to know why people are so selfish, stupid and want to stay in lockdown forever?

3 local shops near me have stopped all the social distancing rules and there's no queue to get in. Haven't see it myself but apparently it's like there's a sale on.

People have the attitude of it will never happen to them.

I agree though I think in 2-3 weeks the rate will be increasing again.

Just in time for them to not open the schools but then they can blame it on us.

Haven't we established by now that the British public are, as a collective, generally unbelievably thick and selfish? Every step of the way there have been morons doing exactly as they please and not giving a shit.

People going back to work will spread so much more.

Anyway johnson will be delighted to hear you blame others for his failures.

Would love to know why people are so selfish.....

The minute the “Stay at home” message was scrapped I knew that it was the start of a downhill slope...

I went to my local park today and there were loads of people there, families, groups of friends, kids playing in the playground etc - absolutely no self distancing at all.

Boris removing the “stay at home” message and telling people to get back to work was always going to lead to the complete decimation of lockdown.

Indeed waffly. We were still sending people Skiing in Italy weeks after they were recording huge numbers of cases. As an island we have fucked this up. That is on the government

Yep totally agree, was so busy today it’s was as though everyone decided to go out and meet people.

Even up here in Scotland you go out and you wouldn’t know there was a lockdown. Streets and roads busy, groups of teens walking about.

Oh as an aside I was coming back from keyworker work, I wasn’t out out myself judging others for being out out.

LastTrainEast · 13/05/2020 23:22

wafflyversatile did you want a total lockdown with no one working?

The government are a joke. Telling people to go back to work with no sign of track and trace in sight, we’re doomed! I really believe they are crazily thinking herd immunity is the only way, complete madness and no proof we get immunity. Look at successful countries and copy what they’re doing.
I want all recommendations from Sage published in full to see what the government are actually being advised to do. Are they getting bad advice or are they just not listening?

I've been out twice today, once for a 14 mile cycle ride with my husband and then a walk tonight with my daughter (she lives with us but has been out at work all day). I live in a city in the south. I haven't seen any evidence of anyone breaking lockdown rules here - people still observing social distancing, rules still in place in supermarkets, no large groups of people out and about. Nothing has changed. Where do you all live?

The figures will go up and down for a long time to come. Do the best you can for yourself and swerve by others.

I don't think we were "sending" people skiing! We could, however, have insisted on returning holiday-makers going into isolation upon return.
Oh, and stopping Cheltenham and that bloody football match in Liverpool.

I'm concerned that test track and trace does not seem to be fully in place.

Watched channel 4 documentary on South Korea earlier. They closed schools but never locked down. All achieved with track and trace and quarantine.

Erm no the British public are not thick and selfish away you go and speak for yourself the majority of us have turned out lives upside down we have lost an awful lot. What a stupid attitude. Our Prime Minister however is. I knew this would happen because Boris jut isn't clear enough when he waffles on. I'm a nurse and when the hospital fills up again I will do my job and not judge my patients to be thick. I actually believe Boris is deliberately vague because he wants to achieve need immunity without taking the blame for more deaths. Just my opinion

Yep, definitely much busier today. The usually deserted walk I do there were lots of people about, a main road I usually cross with no problem took ages to cross as so much traffic and also saw lots houses with cars outside, people visiting etc.

With the VE celebrations last week and all the street parties I can’t see how there won’t be another big spike in a couple of weeks...

How were these people putting your directly at risk?

Lockdowns don't work. They were never meant to eradicate the virus, only to avoid overwhelming the healthcare system. Lockdowns are completely unsustainable, especially given that this virus doesn't kill the vase majority of people who get it, as in, over 90% of them.

Rosebel · 13/05/2020 23:28

Boris was pretty clear. Go to work if you can't work at home, exercise as much as you want and meet one person outside your family. He didn't say just do whatever you want and fuck the country up even more.
Yes relaxing lockdown and I also thought this would happen. Unfortunately we can't stay I'm lockdown forever but the public just don't listen.

I've seen several posts on SM today about mass gatherings all over the country planned to go ahead on Saturday. You can't argue with stupid. "LET'S PARTY!"...
We'll already see a spike from people taking the piss on VE Day.
Pity that those who attend will mostly be young and stupid, I'm sure they'll bray all over SM about their older or vulnerable relatives when they cop it as a direct result. Too brainless to wonder why.
It's more like avoiding the effect the idiots have on everyone else atm. Ridiculous.

I agree with you overworked - surely the government know this will now cause another peak. They want to get it out and spreading as much as possible - they probably think it’s best to do it throughout the summer than winter, which does make sense.

I'm in Scotland and nothing has changed here, went my 2 walks today, everyone keeping out your road, no gangs of kids out.

To be honest the people who want the rate to go up the most are people like you and your fellow doom “everyone’s gonna die” merchants so you can be justified in your COVID hysteria.
