Can we meet a friend in the park for a walk if we socially distance?

Yes you can meet one other person outside of your household but just keep 2m apart. I’m meeting my friend for a walk tomorrow - very excited about that!

You could as well arrange to do your once a week shop at the same time and stand 2m away in the queue. Somebody has to be the person next to you and it might as well be a friend as instead of a stranger.

But my running club is still saying you can only run solo or with family. They are wrong (I am in England, I realise the rules vary elsewhere in the UK).

Yes you can meet one other person. I'm not sure what the rules are if you have a child? I was on a river walk yesterday and there were lots of mums meeting other mums (in twos) with their toddlers in tow. Mums were mostly socially distanced but they were not encouraging the toddlers to stay apart at all. No idea if that is allowed? I would assume not.

I suppose it depends whether you arrange to meet them or not -
entirely possible that a number of families could decide to spend some time in the same place independently of each other.
It's just like strangers being in a park at the same time.
