I see there been an unprecedented NO to the current government in plans to return-open schools.. keen to know what's next?strike?

I'm really hoping June the 1st start back won't actually happen. I work in a school and I'm dreading going back. I'm so worried about myself and all the other teachers and staff. And the kids. Going to work and seeing them has alway been able to brighten the hardest days over the years. Right now though the thought of seeing thair faces just fills me with fear. I'd rather they were home where its safe.

@Hotlollygirl have you not been going in to assist looking after the frontline staff children 🤷‍♀️ a petition of over 500,000 signatures in one evening signed to question the governments decision on opening schools. But the truth is if we don't do now when??! How??! I'm actually losing faith things will ever be normal.

Yes I'm curious about that too...schools have been open for key worker kids...did staff keep 2 m away from them and wear ppe?

Tabby my school has regularly had about 30 kids in total. you can easily keep 2m apart then and I would say the need for PPE is less than having what will turn into every child back before summer apparently (800 children). The guidance also now says you don’t “need” to keep 2m away in schools.. but you do everywhere else?
I’m pro schools opening ASAP if it’s safe but I can see why teachers are concerned about it, I am too. We just don’t know what effect it will have.

10 frontline staff children in a big empty school is a world away from potentially 3, 6 or more whole classes. Some schools could be seeing as many as 200 children or even more.These children will need feeding, water and toilet breaks, playtimes alongside more formal teaching all safely and whilst keeping to social distancing, cleaning etc. Children move and don’t just stay in one place like hospital patients. Little ones don’t observe social distancing if upset, playing or excited.

Parents will be the first ones to complain if the safety measures aren’t good enough or kept to.

Does anyone think this might be part of a bigger plan? I've been giving it some thought.. a virus could spread easily in a school setting and the least likely age group able to practice social distancing is going back first to spread.. 🤷‍♀️ 60+million people in the UK and only a small fraction have 'had' the virus. More people need to have had it .. that's of course until we have a vaccine.

No I havnt been in to help look after keyworkers children. I offered to stay but was told to go straight home and not come back till notified. Im a non teaching member of staff. I also care for my 85 year old mum. She has dementia and heart problems so she's a big concern. All our teacher's are doing an amazing job and and working there socks off.I do worry about more children coming in on the first of June. I do also understand that many children aren't benifiting from being at home. It's a difficult situation for everyone. School staff and parants.
