Hi, DH has received a letter inviting him to participate in a Covid 19 testing research study.

It looks official but I feel like I've seen something about these letters on Facebook as being a scam?

Does anyone know? Thanks

Who’s it from?

Is it from the ONS? It’s genuine if so.

Someone from school got one fir their dd (the child is 5) it came from Ipso Mori and NHS. Apparently they fill out a questionnaire and are then sent a test kit for the child. Dodnt realise there was a scam.

I should have said it's for Imperial College London, research.

There are definitely letters being sent out at the moment.

We've received one, it's marked University college London. Nhs and Ipsos Mori. Supposed to involve regular testing for the virus for the next year and may include antibody testing.

I would do it - I wish I could get a test.

This one has NHS, imperial College London, Ipsos MORI and Dept of Health and Social Care logos on the top, and the letter looks very legit.

It's asking him to register and they'll then send a home testing kit. I guess there's not a financial risk! And would be interesting just in case it flags something, although we've not had symptoms in the house.

Someone I know has one, think they are legit it’s part of large scale testing to find out the true numbers of people who have had the virus.

I would look up the researcher or department conducting the study and contact them. Not on the number or details provided in the letter. It’s very difficult to get permission to send unsolicited requests to participate in NHS research (I’m a clinical researcher). It does happen and in extraordinary circumstances like this, it’s much more likely. But I would confirm before you give any personal information away. You may also be able to confirm with the R&D office of the NHS trust who is conducting it.
