Quick I need the loo.

I suddenly thought with all this exercise and that we are allowed to travel for days out, what happens when nature calls?
So I just ordered a travel loo and a pop up loo tent to use for privacy, I am going too keep it in the boot and empty it when we get home.
My family think I am mad.
But would you use it if desperate?

I was looking at camping looks over the weekend (incase we get to go away at all over summer) and one of those ‘over 150 people are currently viewing this product’ notices popped up.
I think quite a few people are considering similar purchases to you! (I didn’t buy)

Just make sure you practice putting the pop up toilet tent back down again! I use one when we go camping - they’re really easy to pop up, but there’s a definite knack to getting them back in the bag Grin

I’ve never had to use it but being of a certain age I always carry some folded up toilet roll and a carrier bag in case I needed an emergency toilet. For wees I am not so concerned.

Agreed - it's always one of the last things to get packed away when we leave a camping trip - nobody wants to do it!!

Lol. I folded the kids popup beach thing and stuck a bag on it.
The bag puzzle was just too hard

Hahah. Years ago, when pop up tents first came out and YouTube wasn’t really a thing, I bought a festival tent and put it up in the living room to show my dad. We couldn’t work out how to put it down again so when mum got home from work she found us both lying in it watching telly from there Grin It stayed up in the living room until the next day, when a lovely colleague hand drew me instructions for putting it down.

When mine first arrived, I obviously popped it up (in the living room) and then couldn’t get the damn thing to shrink back down again. It was like a huge tardis in the corner of the room until I found a YouTube video of how to do it!

Can you imagine , you pop up your tent add your loo, your family form a que, then an entitled parent demands you give her child access to your loo.
Or the old man who can't hold it for long, that would have been my dad, he never went anywhere there wasn't a public toilet after he reached 65.

Yes @40somethingJBJ - I feel like I’ve found my pop up tent soul mate!

OP, depending on where you’re planning to go, peeing in the bushes is fine. I have a loo in our campervan but no tent (it’s for nighttime so just gets used inside) It’s quite large! Definitely check the size and how much space it will take up in your car.

Can you not just go behind a bush? What do you need a tent for?

I really wish we had kept ds travel potty ( for me !)
I always take an empty water bottle in my bag for ds now incase he gets caught short.

This is a very valid question, I've been wondering myself! I suffer from IBS and am constantly on high alert for where the toilets are whenever we go anywhere even at the best of time! Now the government have said we can travel for exercise but nowhere is open for rest stops - no McDonald's, pubs, public toilets. What are people (who aren't as organised as you!!) meant to do if they are caught short?

I'm six months pregnant and have already had to make use of bushes on my daily walks. Meeting with a friend for a socially distanced chat on Sunday and tbh I've already strategically suggested a location on the common to meet that's near (but not too near) a suitable spot Grin

There was a newspaper article once about people open pooing and how it spoilt a beauty spot.
Seems mid summer very hot day and it stank

oneforsorrow29 I have IBS too, and am always on high alert for toilets wherever I go, so can't currently go far. I only go to local shops at present. There is a large park about 40 mins walk from me (don't drive) with no guarantee the toilet would be open, so I'm really stuck.

The pop up loo things sound good for those going out for the day in countryside etc. I wouldn't be happy carting one to my urban park though!

A quick wee in a bush isn't too bad but when it's the other...well it wouldn't be pleasant but it's a very real possibility for me if I choose to venture a bit further than usual at the minute! I've been staying close to home for that very reason because the anxiety of knowing that nowhere is open for a loo tends to make me need to go!!

Truth be told this is a big issue in my regular life. I nearly always have to take Imodium before going on a long car journey. A pop up loo would maybe be a good investment but I still can't envisage propping one up at the side of the road!!!

@oneforsorrow29 unfortunately for me too. I always have dog poo bags on me and tissue and have even more unfortunately had to use them on ore than one occasion.

Definitely a bush piss. Maybe even a foliage poop.

We have a chemical toilet in our campervan, only used for wees overnight or if we're desperate on a long journey. I have been pleasantly surprised at the lack of smell, whatever they put on the chemicals certainly does the job.
You do have to buy special loo roll though, I think it disintegrates better or something

I have a She-Wee and some TravelJohns that i bought for a festival but never used. The TravelJohns currently reside in my glove box in case of emergency, however I have never been able to pee in the car no matter how desperate I have been (yes, I have tried).
