Covid

Chronic fatigue a symptom?

I've not been ill myself but one of my DC and my DH both had a high temperature and fever for a few days. We think it could have been CV even though no other symptoms, my DC had stomach ache and sore eyes.

A week or so after that I started feeling quite tired and my sense of smell seemed a bit off. I started feeling "sniffy".

Since then I'm feeling increasingly tired and my energy levels are really low, it's now been four weeks. No other symptoms except mild stomach ache.

I'm wondering whether it could possibly be CV??

People I know who think they've had (as in classic symptoms but not tested although GPs fairly certain it was CV) have suffered from chronic fatigue during and afterwards - reports of having made a basic lunch had to go back to bed for the rest of the day sort of levels.
That said, I posted on the general health board this morning about being incredibly tired throughout lockdown. I'm certain it's not CV related as i've had no other symptoms and barely been in contact with anyone. There is a recognised "lockdown fatigue" but that seems to relate more to stress and anxiety and not sleeping well, whereas I'm sleeping like a log but never feel like i have any energy.

Thanks for reply. I would think it was that if I was stressed and anxious and I had been at the start of lockdown, but now I'd say I'm generally on good form, relaxed and in good mental health.

I can barely keep my eyes open and struggle to stay up on my feet. I've been fine going for walks, bike rides etc even - until the last few days when it's got significantly worse. I've also experienced lightheadedness.

It sounds like symptoms I had, particularly as you mention stomach ache.
It won't give you a definitive answer, but have you been on the Covid App? You can see the symptoms from the questions it asks you.

Chronic fatigue is a long term illness, not a symptom of a virus.

It is probably post-viral malaise/fatigue, which is both common and often debilitating.

I have what I am sure is covid-19 - I have had various symptoms including getting a cough and a fever, burning lungs etc but my most persistent symptom has been fatigue - started before weeks before I got the cough and fever and has persisted for weeks after (nearly 2 months in total now).

I think it certainly could be. If there's one thing we know about Covid, it's that it presents in myriad different ways. You might find this interesting:

@DelphiniumBlue what other symptoms did you have please?

Another very random symptom - although could be entirely unrelated - is that I have a few blister type itchy things on my fingers. So far just one on each hand. Very strange. But could indicate a virus / being rundown I suppose (it's not hand foot and mouth)

@avroroad apologies, not claiming I have CFS, chronic a poor choice of word here. Ongoing fatigue better.

I have CFS and I didn't take offence at that. However, I actually came to say that yes, fatigue has been reported as a symptom and there have been articles posted in my CFS groups that quote doctors saying it may cause chronic (i.e. "permanent" or long term) fatigue.

I didn't take offence. It's just a fact, that's all.

Sorry meant to post sooner...
I'm pretty sure I had Covid, but not been tested.
Mine started with fatigue, upset stomach, feeling a bit nauseous. Fatigue got worse, ended up not able to get out of bed for about 3 weeks, sleeping most of the day. No cough or fever, apart from slightly raised temp on one day. Didn't eat much at all for about 3 weeks.
Started feeling better in week 4, but then got very sore mouth, was thinking hand foot and mouth but nothing on my hands.
7 weeks on ,am still a bit tired, sleeping more than usual, but able to work from home.
DH ( asthmatic) had a temperature for a few days, same stomach problems, and about a week of fatigue.
DS ( early 20's) had a few days of a bit under weather but lost sense of taste and smell for a month or so, and this seems to be a thing with people we know of his age.

Ds has the virus now, normally he would be wandering round the house all day & eating us out of house & home, he has had breakfast & tea, nothing else & hasn't eaten all of those, he says he feels shattered, the tiredness came on before the aching & cough, he has sore eyes, said his hands & feet felt prickly & itchy, his mouth feels "bumpy" & his tongue feels too big for his mouth. He has been confined to his room since last Friday, we send his meals up on the stairlift & he collects them, we only speak on the phone, he must be ill because I ordered him a couple of Toblerones & some other chocolates & sweets when I did the online shopping, they are still outside his bedroom door where I left them for him. Does anyone know how long before both myself & my mum can stop worrying that we might catch it?
