New guidelines and moving home

I’ve just read through the document but I can’t see moving house mentioned at all.

I’m undecided as to whether we should proceed as soon as now or wait anyway but I know our buyers (first timers) are chomping at the bit to get moving.

Chain ends with our sellers who are going into a vacant property (just to give you the picture that this is a small chain).

Has anyone read or heard Gov mention this today?

Us too. We really want to move in July but have no idea how we can view places etc.

We're a bit different as we are moving into an empty property and have first time parents who are still living at home buying ours. By the rules we could have moved over the last period of lockdown but couldn't get a removal company. We've just confirmed one today to hopefully move next Thursday but have to do simultaneous exchange and completion on the same day. I'm not sure what happens though so if your moving into a currently occupied property though.....

Ah! I’m not alone. I’ve just found this:

You cannot:
• gather in a group of more than two (excluding members of your own household), except for a few specific exceptions set out in law (for work, funerals, house moves, supporting the vulnerable, in emergencies and to fulfil legal obligations)

Here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do

So I am tentatively thinking we can move to exchange and possibly setting a moving date?

House moves were already allowed if they were reasonably necessary under the original rules.

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/pdfs/uksi_20200350_en.pdf
Reg 6(2)(l)

So basically, they won't be mentioning house moves because they are already allowed! Smile

@maxiflump1 hope it goes smoothly for you! We’ve gone for a long stop because buyers set our radar off a bit. Would have much preferred the clarity of one day and all done!

Thanks @PanicOnTheStreets85 - I was just hoping they’d be a bit clearer. Our solicitor previously said they won’t proceed unless explicitly told they can Confused Will have another discussion with DH tonight to see what approach he thinks we should have.

@PanicOnTheStreets85

What about surveyors though? They werent allowed to go to houses since the last update. Some could go to vacant homes but some and most have been closed for business.
