Covid

So I can see my mum and dad, outdoors, 2m apart but only one at a time?

Does that make even the slightest sense?

When he was asked about whether a man could meet both his daughters outside at the same time, he said that was ok as long as social distancing was maintained.

Yep on radio 4 minister said you could meet two people if socially distanced. He seemed to think it was on odd question.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense, even before yesterday’s announcement. So we could be 2 meters apart from strangers in shops, on walks, at work and on transport yet not 2 meters apart from friends or family?

Do you know which minister it was perfidy ?

Yet we can’t play sports with them as am sure he said that is your own household.
So my teen dc can meet friends in the park as long as they are at a 2m distance but can’t have a game of anything ?

I don't know how the government expect people to follow the rules when it's not clear to ministers what they actually are!

It's such a shower of shit the lot of it - how hard is it to get a clear message and instruction. I'm so frustrated as because of the lack of clarity it seems a second spike is inevitable. Apparently the go to work, don't got to work was for Wednesday yet buses etc are very busy in London like a normal day. It's embarrassing

You can't play sports because you can't maintain 2m distancing from them and other people whilst doing it.

"So my teen dc can meet friends in the park as long as they are at a 2m distance but can’t have a game of anything ?"
That is correct because you cannot play games like football and keep 2m apart at all times.
However, your DC just being able to maintain social distance yet see their friends and talk is a positive thing, isn't it?

But within 2 sentences, a different rule was given:

"People in England can meet up with others outside their household in the outdoors as long as they stay 2m apart, the government has confirmed.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab urged people to "use some common sense" and added: "We can't mix within homes".

So if a minister on R4 confirmed you can meet multiple members of your family simultaneously then you can go for a picnic with your family?

It would be good to get that clarified as everything I've read has said you would have to meet family members separately as it is a max of 2 people.

What'sthis - You can meet up with 2 parents outside as long as you are 2 metres apart, but you can't go to their house as the virus is more likely to be transmitted that way, touching door handles, sitting on sofas, having a cup of tea etc. It does make sense if you think about it.

"yet buses etc are very busy in London like a normal day. It's embarrassing"
Are there just lots of buses operating as in the past full of passengers or are there lots of buses with fewer passengers on because of social distancing measures?

Public transport bodies will have had communication and consultations with Govt. Surely a bus driver will be able to ensure there is only a given number (sufficient to facilitate social distancing) on the bus at any one time. I assume London buses have CCTV so the driver can see who is on the bus and the driver can let people on (or not) and instruct passengers regarding not sitting within 2m of each other.

At least London buses already have the facility for people to pay by contactless cards, unlike some areas of the country.

I suppose they think it'll cause too much temptation. I can't do this with my children as they'll run to their grandparents naturally. I've had to stop them when they drop our food off (single parent).

I think most people would find the 2m thing hard with their own family. The waving through the window thing I've stopped as it was heartbreaking for my kids, it's like teasing them.

There's only so far you can push people though. A couple more weeks of no ease up with family mixing and people are going to do their own thing. I know I personally cannot stay locked up with my boys on my own much longer or my recovery will be massive. I'll be on benefits a long time.

You could have a picnic and other family members not in your household could have a picnic as long as theirs is 2m away.

I'm no fan of Boris and his messaging was unclear. However I think he was giving us permission to take sensible, informed decisions about meeting outside in very small, socially distanced groups with non-vulnerable people. The virus doesn't transmit well in the open air - it does inside.

I think the 2m apart is easy to maintain with complete strangers but with family and friends it would be harder really as it would be natural instinct to want to hug close family members and even with your friends you'd naturally find yourselves moving closer to have conversations so I think it's understandable why they said no mixing households.

I know for one I would find it alien and it wouldn't work for me or my DCs to be stood 2m apart from my parents brother and friends my children are toddlers so they wouldn't understand the keeping apart from close family and friends.

After Boris's speech last night I think the government are still planning it's heard immunity I think they want small waves of this virus to happen it's inevitable they wouldn't be able to stop this virus and know they can't keep people off work for more than another month tops.

It's 30 minutes drive to my mums house, does this mean I can drive there and as long as I keep getting 2m apart that is ok to see her.
