If it's in Cornwall you may not get a great reception, so beware!

We would stay in except for exercise and continue to self isolate, we wouldn't be wondering around and breaking the social distancing rules.

No! The only changes were:

  1. if you can’t work from home but can work whilst socially distancing e.g. construction or manufacturing then you can now go to work.

  2. try not to use public transport to get to work, use cars, bikes or walk

  3. from Wednesday you can have unlimited outdoor exercise (which you can drive to), again, whilst social distancing. This includes sitting on benches and playing sports within your household group.

Nothing was mentioned about recreational travel e.g. visiting 2nd homes.

Other changes will be put in place if we meet all the markers e.g. schools opening

Here's the transcript of the briefing, did Boris say you could move to your second home? www.gov.uk/government/speeches/pm-address-to-the-nation-on-coronavirus-10-may-2020

Not essential travel is it.
There was nothing to suggest that that guideline had changed.

If your second home is in Wales, definitely not. Our lockdown rules are different to England’s and our police force are allowed to stop you, fine you and prosecute.

Why has being in a pandemic affected people's comprehension skills? Mumsnetters seem to be the worst at the moment.

Only if you are a government advisor and expert on the importance of obeying the rules on social distancing.

And this thread is a good of example why the announcements tonight will not work. Selfishness of people is unbelievable at times.

Second home owners are still unwelcome in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, New Forest, Isle of Wight, Lake District, Peak District, the whole of Scotland & Wales. Clear enough?

Why would you? Why would you take yourself to a place, which is likely to have less hospital beds and ICU provision? I don't get it.

"Unlimited exercise you can drive to" so could drive to exercise in the area and then stay the night there.

No, not in Wales or Scotland.

Well if it’s in England (which I sure Devon & Cornwall still are) you probably can don’t know if they will greet you with open arms!!

If it’s in Scotland or Wales then no.

You can, if it's essential.

You could walk to your second home as part of your daily exercise and sit on benches along the way.

From what I've read, the south coast has pitchfork wielding vigilantes manning the A roads to deter the dreaded tourists.
