Is it okay to travel to a private swimming pool?

20 mins away, would stay there longer than travel time to exercise. It’s a private pool with nobody else there. Feels odd as I’m just used to walking and cycling in the lockdown! Is this okay?

Technically no, because it's non-essential travel isn't it?

It's not essential to go swimming (unless you have a medical complaint that means it is?)

Is actually likely to cause a problem for anyone? Probably not.

Has anyone else used the pool though? Even if they're not there at the time presumably someone else is also swimming in it or will after you've used it?

Could you cycle there instead?

Why not? It's exercise

I thought all swimming pools were supposed to be closed? I don’t think this is strictly within the rules, but stuff is about to change so who knows?

Are you really going for exercise or just to fanny about in the pool?

I mean you could drive to go for a walk technically that is within the rules so don't know why swimming would be different?

This is very mysterious - a private deserted swimming pool!

You're allowed to drive a short distance to exercise so yes, go for it.

Of course you can

I'd say yes it's allowed as you can travel for exercise .

If you can drive to do outdoor exercise (a short distance where the time spent exercising is much longer than the drive), why not to swim?

Do you own it? Just wondering if it has been kept maintained and if anyone else has been accessing it?

I assume a private pool would be at a residential property. Is it currently unoccupied?

The virus is transmitted in water droplets. I would thing an indoor swimming pool, changing rooms etc is the perfect place to spread the virus. You might be the only person in the pool at the time but I bet you wont be the only person using the facility.

So its not ok.

Why are you asking on here? Whose permission are you seeking?
Go swimming. You’re very, very lucky to have use of that.
Please ‘fanny about in the pool’ on behalf of us who would do anything to have access to a pool right now.

Please , please just fanny around at the pool, OP. How irresponsible to have a bit of fun.
Chlorine kills the virus stone dead.

Oh gosh, what I wouldn't do for access to a pool for DS currently missing his swim club like crazy. Sad

Christ, go & enjoy it
I have stuck to the letter of the guidelines/law but I would get straight in my car & take my fish like children to a pool if I could - as soon as we’re allowed to go a bit further we’re going to swim in the river.

Yes you can. Drive to a park to walk. So drive to a private pool.

Where is it? Can I go after you?!!
