If my mum came and lived with us in our home, would that be breaking lockdown rules?

No.

Yes, however I'd be asking myself a few questions before making that decision.

Yes she could come if she was going to stay for the duration of the rest of lockdown.

*no you are not breaking lockdown

Yes, she can come and live with you for the rest of lockdown or permanently. It isn't breaking any rules.

Your post is a bit confusing in the way it is worded but yes your mum can move in, no you will not be breaking the rules.

I thought we couldn't move in with relatives in the middle of lockdown?

You would not be breaking rules by merging households. Might be sensible to have her and your household isolate for at least a week before she comes though to ensure nobody has symptoms.

It is going against ' the rules '. Unless she is escaping an unsafe situation.

Maybe its unsafe for her mental health. As long as she isnt going to and fro then its fine

I'd be asking..

Is it safe ?
Whats the likelihood of either house having corona?
What are the consequences of not moving in with each other? Does that risk out weight the the risk of corona ?

Make a well informed risk assessment and do what is right for your family.

It isn't against the rules.

Yes. It’s allowed to change your place of residence so long as you then stay there rather than going back and forth.

Although if there’s any chance any of you could have it obviously enforce isolation rules it within the house for 14 days. I’m guessing you know that though.
