Covid

I can't imagine what summer will be like this year

Will it be reasonably normal albeit with distancing? I just draw a blank between lockdown and September.

The DC both have birthdays in the holidays, one wants her ears pierced and we were going to do a trip to the zoo for the other. I can't see either being likely. We usually spend most of the summer outside, up a mountain or in a National Trust garden. I was going to cancel my membership because I can't really afford to pay it for nothing.

First world problem really, but the thought of being extremely restricted all summer l, then smack back into Autumn/Winter fills me with dread. I'll have to get a sun lamp at last.

I think it will be like that tbh. Can’t see there being much of a summer.

Our local council has reopened its botanical garden and there were several family groups walking round it when we visited in the week.

It made me hope that the National Trust etc. really ought to be able to open up soon (possibly with pre-booked timed tickets).

We are coping well with lockdown as we can go for lovely walks and sit in the garden. I am so glad this didn't start in the Autumn.

Good luck with your daughters' birthdays. I think Longleat has a virtual safari (and some of the SA game lodges are/were doing live safari drives -some with Q&A for kids).

I'm not expecting it to be much different to normal really - bbqs, hopefully seeing family and friends, lots of nice walks, picnics, etc. I did want to take DS to a farm for his summer birthday but if we can socialise more I think we will throw him a little garden party.

I really think that it is important to have a light lockdown during the summer holidays. Otherwise we will face a massive wave in August and September, not a good idea at all.

I really want to be allowed to travel 5 miles to go to the beach. They’ve locked all the car parks so we can’t go as the kids can’t cycle 10 mile round trip. That’s all I’m hoping for from the summer now.

All I care about is my 9 year old DS getting to play with his friends. I don't care about anything else. It will be a long, lonely summer if not 😞

I suspect summer will be much as it has been for the last 7 weeks.

There's no reason why safari parks shouldn't open. There'll be opportunities for walks still, but unless we get the reliable antibody testing and more knowledge about immunity. This summer is going to be about basic past times.
