Nicola has just announced that Scotland will stay locked down for a further 3 weeks with no easing of restrictions.

What's your thoughts?

Suspect England will follow on Sunday.

I understand it, but I think she very tunnel-visioned.

In what way?

Yes I think the media and public in England and Wales have gotten carried away making predictions which are unrealistic to be happening after a 7 week lockdown

Interesting, really intrigued to hear what BoJo has to say.

Dont the have to review lockdown today?

It's going to be three more weeks for England too. The press have gone nuts about Sunday's speech, nothing major is going to change at all, but people are now believing it's the end of lockdown.

Absolute joke to me.

I might, and I stress might, allow people to have two bits of exercise. 😂😂

As if people who want to aren't already doing that.

The cost of literally everything else that is currently be trashed seems far greater than the cost of covid to me.

I used to really respect Nicola (though not really an SNP supporter I thought she was a good politician) but now it's starting to become why those who don't like her don't like about her. Points scoring, and it's obvious. It's like extreme wokeness but with Coronavirus. Bizarre.

She's made the right decision.
Boris will follow suit. If he's got the balls.

Hopefully Boris follows suit.
The newspapers have been so irresponsible this morning.

Does no one else think all they're doing is testing the waters? Boris fucked up. He shouldn't have stood in the house of commons and said what he said. He was under pressure and worded it wrongly and the media and public have picked up on it and ASSUMED he is going to ease the lockdown. That isn't going to happen so perhaps because Nicola wanted to extend the lockdown anyway, they decided she does it today, they gauge the reaction from Scotland then Boris gets his balls out and tells England they're actually still grounded despite what the media is saying in a few days time...

I think the 'relaxation' being touted will actually be an emphasis on things you can already technically do in law. So yes, you can go out to exercise more than once a day and you can go to work if you're not in a business that's been told to close.

So it will effectively be a further three weeks for the england, too, but phrased as a small relaxation.

I've no problem with that, but am hoping for a clear plan on what happens next.

The so called non essential shops should be allowed to reopen. It isn’t right that B&Q can generate a mass gathering yet a sole trader who probably has about 5 customers a day can’t open to earn peanuts.

I think you're spot on ClashCityRocker. More of a 'these were only ever guidelines but if you want to go out more than once a day and return to your open workplace, you can do so without judgement but take extra precautions'.

Nicola has firmly said all guidelines are still in place and will be policed but she will look at relaxing the one exercise a day guideline, maybe...

Not sure how relaxing would work with 2 Bank Holidays this month..

Wales have just announced to ignore speculation on the weekend, press and MN I’m looking at you. Schools will not re open June 1 in Wales.

Report
starrynight19 · 07/05/2020 16:29

The media have whipped this up causing a frenzy. All nothing more than speculation.
I think some people are going to be very disappointed after Boris speech on Sunday when he announces something very similar.

@Itisasecret - I wonder if we will see any posts about the Welsh FM being deluded and a control freak?

I know the answer already
