Oh FGS - Test came back as unclear! Does that mean I didn't do it right?

Has a test on Mon morning, was a bit worried I hadn't done it completely right (the instructions are comprehensive but hard to do on self I found). Now the results have come back as unclear and they want me to retest. Anyone else had this happen?

I know someone who was tested and it came back unclear, they had to redo it twice more.

Having had mine done at a test centre yesterday I can say I don’t think I would be able to do it properly on myself. They put it really high up in my nose and twirled it around for 10 -very long- seconds. The mouth one was certainly further in than I could do on myself also. Do you have someone at home that could perform it for you?

The email said to book again which I have done for tomorrow. I'm taking my partner to do it to me and I've told him he should have one too this time

A + E wouldn’t retest DH on Sunday, he had a negative result 3 days before - it was obvious he had it but he wasn’t being admitted so they said there was no point as so many tests are false negatives.
It seems the danger zone for symptoms turning really nasty is day 7/8, he’s day 11 now and is much, much better thankfully.

I can’t imagine anyone being brave enough to do the test properly on themselves- it’s not a nasal swab, it’s a stab puncture of the exquisitely sensitive nasal mucosa to get a deep sample, and it hurts like fuck!
I’ve had two in hospital and both times I thought the nurse and doctor were both trying to skewer my brain.
The throat swab also has to be far enough down and hard enough to trigger a big gag reflex. Most unpleasant.
