What’s doing your head in during lockdown?

Lighthearted! Or semi-lighthearted anyway...

I’m not talking about the big obvious things eg unable to see family, shopping etc. I’m talking about the little foibles of your family/partner/neighbours etc.

I mean I could write a book but my main ones are:

- constant fucking podcasts! My husband is obsessed with podcasts and I feel like there is constant tinny talking that follows him around the house. Harmless but hiiighly irritating.

- the regularity with which my (fairly newly potty trained) two year old needs to pee. Every time I sit down to eat. I can’t eat a meal without having to get up to wipe an arse. Or so it feels anyway. I’d never let on obviously but I inwardly roll my eyes every time.

- six year old constantly asking to commandeer my phone.

Having to provide food for EVERYONE all the time!! Normally dc are having lunch at school, dh is at work and away a few days a week and we eat out a lot at weekends. Now I have to think about meals 7 day a week and it’s really getting me down!!

OnARoadToNowhere Sun 03-May-20 18:13:22

OMG yes!! Also making meals that nobody bloody eats!!

Having to work really hard from home (busiest month of the year) and sometimes having to do overtime - there are days where I mentally slump and can’t seem to do it. literally have to stop myself sobbing on my keyboard. Would kill for a months furlough.

I'm fed up of my lazy family taking till lunch time to shower / make breakfast while I want to tidy up .
Dh constantly wants to watch a load of shit on tv namely hours of old snooker .
I lost it the other day I said turn it off or buy another tv or divorce will be the 3rd option .
I'm not used to spending weeks together. I have a few times over the last few weeks had to leave the room and count to 10.

Happy Birthday
Dd was taught at nursery to sing happy birthday while washing her hands.
Every bloody time I wash my hands she appears and shouts mummy sing happy birthday.
It's doing my head in. This morning she was up with dh at 7am and I could hear happy birthday coming from the bathroom.

I'm sick of tidying/hoovering etc only for it to be a shit show within half an hour. No idea where all the mess comes from.

EddieVeddersfoxymop Sun 03-May-20 18:28:26

My neighbours fucking music, shouting and wood burner that we now get no respite at all from
Dog shit everywhere. My neighbour counted 93 bagged and loose dog shit piles in our local woods.
People who dont socially distance while out walking so we fold ourselves into hedges to maintain some space.
My car just sitting there. Only owned it a week and then we were locked down.
Working from home and kids messaging me at 10pm on a friday!

Littlebelina Sun 03-May-20 18:31:09

Dog shit has got worse hasn't it? It's bloodly everywhere now. Beginning of lockdown was fine

Not having any time to myself. My days are a constant round of tying to tidy up and clean, arbitrating squabbles, attempting her me lessons, sorting tech issues, cooking, answering video calls, more tidying, emptying bins...

Sons of Anarchy. Thankfully DH is now on the last season of his marathon. I might get a choice in the TV viewing shortly.

Lifeisabeach09 Sun 03-May-20 18:48:56

The constant "Mum, I'm hungry" numerous times per day (even after meals!) or just the "mum, mum, mum." Driving me potty!

Keepgoing88 Sun 03-May-20 18:50:51

My children!

whatisforteamum Sun 03-May-20 19:08:37

FascinatingCarrot Sun 03-May-20 19:19:40

Having to blow up and remake a shite single bed every day while I'm in bastard isolation in the living room.

Thornhill58 Sun 03-May-20 19:21:47

Tomorrow will be a bank holiday. I lost track of time. I'm constantly thinking what time is it? What day is it?
What meal is this? confused

purpleme12 Sun 03-May-20 19:22:30

Everything. Single parent. I've had enough of my child

HairyFloppins Sun 03-May-20 19:23:49

My neighbours and constant noise and street parties. House is going on the market as soon as I can.

ToLiveInPeace Sun 03-May-20 19:26:25

Goatymcgoaty, I hear you. What's doing my head in is all those people with acres of free time for making bloody sourdough, whereas I'm working 12 hour days because there's even more work and it all takes longer.

twocrowsonafence Sun 03-May-20 19:30:11

Zoom/Skype calls and hearing my kids say Mum for the millionth time today.

theneverendinglaundry Sun 03-May-20 19:31:03

Cooking for everyone ALL THE TIME. Constantly tidying up. Kids asking for snacks 100 times a day. Battling with 8 yo to get schoolwork done. The way my DH slurps hot drinks. Constant requests from kids to play Roblox and watch YouTube. DH not knowing how to switch off from work and working until midnight. DH constantly talking about work.

I've had enough now. I want my old life back 😭

NeutralJanet Sun 03-May-20 19:32:27

The kids next door constantly screaming. I don't mind the noise of playing at all, but these kids egg each other on to scream like banshees, which then sets their dogs off barking. Its incredibly distracting when I'm trying to work at the laptop in the kitchen.

Thatbitchcarolebaskin Sun 03-May-20 19:34:31

The lack of books. I need my head buried in something a lot of the time and I’m spending far too much time on my phone because I can’t go to the library

Thatbitchcarolebaskin Sun 03-May-20 19:35:51

@Thornhill58 tomorrow isn’t a bank holidays- it’s been moved to Friday

Laiste Sun 03-May-20 19:40:00

I'm fed up with the amount of meals.

Not that i'm cooking all of them - 'cos 3 of my 4 DCs are grown up and cook their own if i'm not in the mood for providing another banquet.

BUT in some ways it's worse when we have a 'fend for yourself' day. They're constantly in and out of the kitchen and living room with snacks and drinks and plates and packets and boxes of this and that and leaving dirty crockery in small piles in weird places. And crumbs and grease smears on the work tops.

Bloody stop drifting about making a mess!!!!

At least when i do a family meal i keep the mess to a minimum and everyone else pitches in with one big proper clean up at the end.

HeartGirls Sun 03-May-20 19:40:10

So much more washing as I've been through the house washing sofa covers etc so my own fault.

Other than that I'm shopping for elderly parents who just cannot give me a weekly shopping list. Every day it's can you get this or that. I've said so many times once a week and I get a big list then a day or two later it starts again. If I have to go back to work before we feel it's safe to let them out I have no idea how I'll manage
