Covid

Invited for Covid19 test - cannot get booked in

I fill in the Kings College Covid19 app daily. At the moment I have got bacterial sinusitis- so I have filled out the app with this detail.

I've now received an email inviting me to take a test in the name of research - but I cannot get booked on anywhere within the next week.

Has anyone else had this problem? I don't understand why they are inviting people for testing when there simply isn't the capacity?

They won't send you a home test kit?

None available apparently. I'm wondering if I log on again tomorrow first thing whether some will be

I'm trying to get a test for my partner as he qualified. Been sent the code for gov.uk. My local site has 72 spaces over next 5 days but when I click on,there aren't any..

@Layladylay234 that's exactly what's coming up on mine. I guess we need to keep trying?

Yep,I'm not sleeping great at the moment so might try at about 2am this morning and see if that works! Where's your nearest site? I'm trying for Leicester. Then they're saying the next nearest is Leighton Buzzard. But I know that they're testing in Nottingham and Coventry

I got in at Worcester straight away through the app. Keep trying!

Same here. Invited by Kings College but cant find any slots. The nearest centre is 22 miles away and should have 6 slots.

Frustrating it's it @Florencemattell. I guess we just have to keep trying.

It was the next day @unicornsrulealright
It was 22 miles from me but was nice just to get out for a bit in the car!

They are obviously full for today. Does anyone know what time in the morning the next batch of tests are released for people to book? X

@realitea What app was this?

Report
Lightsabre · 02/05/2020 15:33

There is a bit of a time lag so although it says slots are available, they've probably gone by the time you book. I don't know what time the Kings one release further slots but on the general Gov one you need to book at 8am and book the earliest slot possible ie 8.30-9 if you can get there that quickly.

Thanks @Lightsabre. It directs you to the gov.uk website so assuming it's the same website as the essential workers etc. Will try again first thing.

Leicester said 72 places available but couldn't find one. Had to go 20 miles further up to Nottingham.
Booked for tomorrow. Not looking forward to it.

I'm booked at Edgbaston. I'm not looking forward to it either - heard horror stories. But will be pleased to be able to aid research

@Layladylay234 it’s the covid symptom tracker app, it has a dark blue background, a big C and 19 on the logo so you can spot it

It does take you to the same place where essential workers go to register for their test.

Why are you all not looking forward to it? It’s fine, honestly
I had to do mine myself in the car so not sure how accurate it’ll be

Those who have booked , did it confirm the booking by email or text? I'm not sure if I'm booked in or not.

it's really fine, dh & I had them today the throat one is a bit gaggy but not too bad.

The false negative rate is really high though, they say the first five days of symptoms but day three is best. We didn't get tested until day 9 & 7 so I'm not holding out much hope for an accurate result.

Florencemattell we got a text and an email confirming our bookings. The email has a bar code thing that the test centre needed to scan when we arrived.

I think it took around 15 - 20 minutes to arrive though.

We were tested in Surrey so other areas might do it differently. Having the test is fine. A bit strange but over with very quickly.
