Returning to the UK

My DD is returning to the UK after studying in Hong Kong. Does she need to self isolate/quarantine for 2 weeks? I can’t find any up to date information regarding this on the government website. I remember seeing something about it on the news recently though. Can you also link to the information please.
Thank you.

Not yet, but soon. Right now she needs to go straight home, but only isolate if she gets unwell:
www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus.
In coming weeks the government plan to introduce quarantine:
www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/coronavirus-flights-ferries-tests-heathrow-airport-a9484616.html.

Ideally she'll think about the risks due to her flight and isolate from you as far as possible, not go to work / travel / do the shopping etc. It means she can go for walks, but again you'd hope she will be particularly careful to avoid people and not go running for 14 days potentially huffing out a load of virus on passersby (like some infected mumsnetters thought was fine). But it's up to her.

MRex thanks for your reply. She arrives home tomorrow morning. That’s the same information that I found - I was wondering if I’d missed something as most people are saying she needs to quarantine. I will advise her to stay in for two weeks. She definitely won’t be going to work, travel, shop etc. She has loads of uni work to complete anyway so that will keep her busy. I’m pretty sure I’ve already had it but I know that it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m immune so will be extra careful. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

You must be delighted that you'll be having her home, enjoy the time together!

Thank you. I’m a bit worried to be honest as I think she’s safer over there. She was due home in a month but decided to come back a bit earlier as all lectures, tutorials etc were online anyway.
