Seeing my family

Not yet, but once lockdown restrictions are eased and they say we can see close family (hopefully) my parents live a 4 hour drive away. I really want to see them and they’re desperate to see my DS.
Does anyone think it’ll be okay for them to travel here to stay with us once they give the go ahead for families to see each other?

Well, if they add “seeing family” to the list of reasons you can be out....

What do you mean “okay”? If they won’t allow travel over a certain distance you mean?

I’m curious about this. My in-laws live a 4/5 hour drive away & I’m wondering if we’ll be able to drive to see them when we can see family 🤔 or whether it’ll be local family.. my parents who live nearby are fully isolating so who knows when we’ll get to see them 😭 Seriously debating going to live with the in-laws for a while to have some support with our newborn & toddler, it’s blooming hard work!

@LilacTree1 that’s exactly what I mean. Whether they’ll restrict it to local family.

@Bol87 it’s a big decision, but if you feel it’ll help support you then you need to think about doing it

Cathy I have no local family so I’m concerned about this too

But I think lockdown will be in place till end of June as that’s when furlough pay stops.

@lilactree1 possibly, but when it is lifted, even if it’s July, I’d like to see my parents but I’m just wondering if it’ll be possible when they’re that far away from us.

@LilacTree1 I guess one option would be to wait until restrictions are lifted and then travel to stay with them at their house...I’m just trying to work out a worst case scenario plan. My in laws live here and are only a short drive away so we could still see them once the restrictions are lifted.

OP
You should definitely write to the PM and local MP about this

As long as they think people want lockdown, the less likely they are to lift restrictions.

I don’t think lockdown will be until June, I think furloughed goes on that long to give businesses time to stagger opening up stores etc. You don’t want all McDonald’s opened at once for example you want then to stagger it To control the number of people out.

Yes Op if visiting family is allowed within the new rules then yes I think travelling to see you would be fine
