This has probably been done before. What do you miss doing most since lockdown began? For me it's a couple of simple things. I live walking distance from a great little cinema and we'd walk round there pretty much every week and see a film. We also live about a 15 minute drive for a gorgeous beach popular with surfers. I miss going there at dusk, watching the surfers, getting fish and chips and eating them on the beach. Bliss!

I actually don't miss all that much myself. I can cope quite well with boredom and enjoy my own company.

What I really miss is seeing my dc enjoying themselves. Swimming, soft play, playing football, Scouts, playing with friends.

Like Running I miss seeing my kids doing all of those things.

I miss live music. Going to watch bands.
I miss taking the family to the cinema, meals out.
I miss the mundane - being able to nip into a shop, chatting with work colleagues, picking my children up from their friend's houses etc.

I mean don't get me wrong, I do miss things myself. I miss browsing in Asda on my day off, I miss eating out, I will really miss going to a beach if that doesn't happen this year.

It's just as an adult and an introvert I'm managing, as I understand the reasons etc. It's harder watching my dc miss out because they grow up fast so it feels like lost time.

I miss being normal. Like taking the kids to school, going to the local bakery for a sausagw sandwich and a nice cake, chatting to people on my dog walks, seeing friends for coffee.

I've just totally contradicted myself. hmm

Going to the gym. I can cope without everything else.

I miss my family, my sisters and parents mostly. In fact I miss loads of things, the madness of the school run, chatting to people on the way there, chatting to colleagues. Taking the dc out to places they love, parks etc without the worry that someone will come too close. I miss not being worried everytime I go anywhere and not feeling safe unless I am at home. I could go on but my last sentence is really the worst thing about all of this.

Ciwirocks Fri 01-May-20 10:00:05

I hate not feeling safe unless I am home, I don’t miss it!

I miss petting dogs while out. My DD and I will always say hello to dogs with owners permission and give them a little pet, it seems small but really shows how much the world has changed. I also miss family and friends but they are big things

Vinorosso74 Fri 01-May-20 10:07:50

I miss normality. Being able to go places, pubs, restaurants, shops and see people. I miss my weekly volunteering shift. I even miss dropping off and picking up DD from school an getting her to other activities etc.
Only bonus so far is I have reduced my credit card bill!!!!

I miss having my dad round for dinner, and popping round his for a cuppa. I’m still seeing him when dropping shopping off, but it’s just not the same.

I miss my cleaner. I’m disabled and really, really struggling keeping on top of things, particularly changing the beds.

Monkeybunkey Fri 01-May-20 10:17:04

Seeing my family (we've had 3 family birthdays via Houseparty since lockdown which isn't the same as all eating cake together) and going to the pub, not just for the drinking but for seeing friends for whom a Sunday lunchtime drink is their only social interaction of the week. Oh, and eating out. Even with a takeaway, there's still washing up!

Thighmageddon Fri 01-May-20 10:24:01

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm missing the morning commute on public transport just staring out of the window with my coffee cup in my hand.

BahHumbygge Fri 01-May-20 10:36:59

Pottering around the charity shops in town. At least I don’t have FOMO about it as they’re closed now anyway grin

kimlo Fri 01-May-20 10:39:18

I miss people. I miss the things I did. I want to go for a walk then a trip to costa, I want to go to the pictures.

I want to see people.

Daisylily656 Fri 01-May-20 10:43:01

I miss Going to toddler groups, going on nature hunts, having coffee in my favourite place, going to the park, sitting in the park till sunset.

Our four adult children. Coffee and cake somewhere nice. We were so looking forward to introducing our little dog to the seaside too.
