Probably not

why do you ask? It’s a non zero probability but probably quite a low one.

Probably about 0.05%

Likelihood. Probably not.

I think it’s a lot less than 0.05

Maybe ask on the data analysis thread

Will you be getting in a car again, maybe think of it that way.

I would think highly unlikely unless you are obese as they like to throw that one in.

ChippityDoDa · 30/04/2020 23:54

You’ve probably more chance of dying next time you go out in your car.

More like 0.01%
Before Coronavirus, how scared were you that you wouldn’t make it to your next birthday? It’s about as likely as that.

Very, very, very unlikely.

I'm also young with no underlying health conditions and the only reason I'm scared to catch it is in case I pass it on to someone less fortunate than myself.

Sadly a lovely 21 year old girl in our village with no health issues at all died a few weeks ago from Covid-19. Everyone has been devastated. It's the last thing you expect to happen but unfortunately it can and it does. There are no guarantees with this virus I'm afraid.

@MummyFriend,for goodness sake!! Bet she had an underlying problem, even if not previously known.

Also was she tested? Doctors are putting Coronavirus on death certificates, even when the patient has not been tested, makes it easier for them.

No OP of course you are not likely to dies of this virus, hardly anyone who gets it dies. Please don’t worry.

My brother in laws 20 year old nephew died from Covid 19. I'm sure you will be fine but we are in a pandemic. No point panicking.

OP

This study, in the British Medical Journal, by the top scaremonger, says IF you get it, only 1% in your age group even go to hospital.

www.bmj.com/content/369/bmj.m1327

The death rate for this disease is extremely low even in the high risk groups.

I know of a poor chap who died falling off a ladder. I also know of three people (one teenager, a man of 38 and a man in his fifties) who all died suddenly of undiagnosed heart disease. Of course this is awful for their families, but things have to be kept in perspective. Covid is no different. We will all go mad if we dwell on everything which might kill us. OP, you are young and healthy. Please try to think about that instead of worrying.

ONS statistics up to 17 April:

Only 90 females aged 15-44 died of COVID - that's in all of England & Wales
In the entire epidemic up to 17 April

OP:
About 12 million women are in this age group
So chances of a female in this age group having died is 90 chances in 12 million

... I'm pretty sure most of those 90 females would have been nearer age 44 than your age of 21
....and nearly all of them would have had underlying health conditions

Big, so that’s 0.00075%?

OP I presume you’ve gone to sleep but definitely cross this off the worry list tomorrow Flowers

CDC figures in the USA show there have been 25 deaths from Covid for under 25s so far. That's out of the whole of the USA.

What do you mean there’s no real information?

25 year old DP had it, we did not isolate him in our house to try and gain "immunity" (I'm 22)
I had no symptoms aside from my lungs feeling funny for a day and that was more like when you try and take a deep breath but it isnt quite enough
You will most likely be fine and have it now I did!

@BigChocFrenzy- you can’t calculate a death rate like that as all of the 12 million females you were referring to haven’t had the virus.

@summerrain34 getting an actual figure is difficult. You first have to calculate the probability of you actually catching the virus. That is subjecting to each person as it depends on where you live, what job you do, how well you are able to socially distance etc. Once you have this figure you then need to apply the probability of you dying from CV- which would be looking at how many people your age have died- one of how many people your age got infected.

I don’t have all the figures to have to do a best estimate; but the graph posted above shows it really well. Your chances of dying from CV are not much different to your chances of dying this year anyway from either another illness or an accident.

I know it’s a scary time, but try not to worry too much.

If you go out in your car today, will you die? No, probably not.
Asking the question that way isn't going to make you feel better though, I imagine.
We live with death. All of us will die. Most likely you will die in your 70s or 80s but you might get cervical cancer before you are 25. I mean, the odds are tiny, but you might.
So, no, you won't die of covid at your age, if by that we mean the odds are tiny that you will.

Report
MaxNormal · 01/05/2020 07:59

Probably about 0.05%
Much lower. That is likely to be the overall death rate across all ages, since antibody testing is widespread.
OP the chance of you dying of it as a healthy 21 year old female is very, very low. If you want to protect yourself further, take Vitamin D supplements.

Report
MaxNormal · 01/05/2020 08:01

Should read once antibody testing is widespread.
