Covid

How come Germany deaths are rising but China not so much?

Sorry if it’s a stupid question.

Both and lifted restrictions. Germany is gaining more and more deaths everyday where as China hasn’t had that many.

What are they doing different that we would work on here?

Not that I am one to buy into conspiracy theories but I am not sure that it is wise to trust the information coming from China.

Lying.

Bolting their citizens front doors shut.

Bundling their citizens into the back of vans and going ‘missing.’

I wouldn’t believe a word that comes out of China.

Assuming the figures are correct, because China has through its ultra-strict and lengthy lockdowns, essentially eradicated it.

Germany’s lockdown is less all-consuming, and is about 2 months behind China in containing it.

China can't be trusted

Although China quite possibly have greatly understated their figures as they were fighting , I think it is far-fetched to believe that, even in China, Covid is raging with 1,000s, or even just 100s, of daily deaths at the moment and we don’t hear a peep. China may be an authoritarian state that strictly controls information, but it’s not North Korea.

Germany's cases and deaths have been declining for weeks now
Down to about 1,000 new cases and 150 deaths per day

That's very low compared to the UK, Italy, France etc

However, I doubt if a democratic country can completely eradicate COVID, before a ovaccine
Even S Korea has new cases

My brother lives in Germany. On the day lockdown eased, my brother had a doctors appointment, then he went for physiotherapy ( nothing urgent in either case), then they had a friend over for dinner.

If that’s the general attitude there I’m not surprised there’s been an increase in cases.

The world can be left in no doubt about the dishonesty regarding the numbers of deaths and the huge cover up in China.

It has completely altered my view of them. It is pretty disgusting to lie to the world, not to mention to the millions of their own people.

Germany is gaining more and more deaths everyday

Are these graphs not correct then? Because to me it looks like the daily cases are continuing to fall and whilst the last three days deaths have been slightly higher they're following the wave pattern that most of the graphs have and those waves are gradually getting lower.

Are there other more reliable sources?

People who are dying now of coronavirus will most likely have got sick before the easing of the lockdown. Death rates should change a few days after new infections rate changes.

While I don't believe the number of deaths, etc that has come out of China, I do believe they've effectively eradicated it now. Their lockdown was far more aggressive than any European country - one person per household was allowed to the shops every 3 days, a personal QR code was scanned everywhere they went, their front doors were alarmed to make sure they only left the house when permitted, etc.

German deaths are from people who contracted it up to a month ago. Potentially longer depending on the registration and notification process. I think you’re maybe misunderstanding the death stats and how long it takes to die. It’s not immediate.

Germany has seen a small uptake in the amount of new cases, which was to be expected.

Are Germany taking in some patients from neighboring countries?

Would those patients be included in the German statistics?

Chinese lockdown was longer and rigidly enforced, and hasn't been totally lifted in Wuhan

Because China is lying and suppressing the true situation in China as a massive face-saving exercise.

Which is back-firing on them spectacularly IMO as they have overdone it and consequently just look like bigger arses than if they had been more truthful.

A friend of mine teaches in China. The social distancing rules in schools now are very thorough. Very much not business as usual.
