Covid

What, if anything. is keeping you relatively sane during this time?

The only thing keeping me from getting emotionally low is having routine. Much more so than I used to. Maybe it's a control thing I don't know. Every Friday we have an online games night and every Saturday I have drinks on a zoom call with my friends. We never used to have a Sunday roast much but now we do at the same time every Sunday.

What things are you doing to keep sane/happy/in control?

Ditto sunday lunch

Working (lots)

Colleagues

My bed or a sunlounger (when I am not working)

That's the sum total of my life at the moment really

Work.

I was worried I had to leave the house to go to work but now I'm relieved.

Also, audible and audio books on youtube!

My house is so clean haha - I’ve been furloughed. I get up with my husband at 8 and we have w breakfast - he starts work At 9 - I do a work out dvd, then shower, dressed, do 20 mins of house cleaning!

Take a break to watch a tv show!

Get lunch ready,

Been doing a lot of meal prep, started learning to bake sourdough bread!

Doing a lot of reading!

Basically keeping my day full of things to do rather than lazing around in bed or watching tv all day!

Friday night we do a quiz with friends and have a few drinks

Saturday we go for a big cycle to get out of the house

Sunday we cook together, play PlayStation games online with my husbands son who we can’t see during lockdown as he lives abroad!

And we have been watching a film together every other evening

Gardening
Reading
The Archers
Speaking to my son on telephone
Walking the dog
Recalling horrible days at work when I really didn’t want to be there, or mornings when I literally had to force myself out of bed because I was so exhausted and would have given anything to be able to stay in bed.

Work. Normal routine.

My gym online version. Its oddly the only thing that stops snacking.

Getting a sit down for an hour on the PS.

Keeping busy - I bought paint before lockdown & so far have painted the shed, decorated the bedroom & dining room and sorted out the garden. We’re going to paint the kitchen this week.
We only do stuff while Dd is doing online school, at 3.30 we walk to the park at the end of our road, feed the baby ducks & do a couple of laps of the park to get some exercise.
I keep reminding myself I would never usually have time to do all this stuff to the house & garden - trying very hard to stay positive

Yoga. I was never a fan but the routine of doing it everyday and the need to maintain concentration is working well for me.
Trashy TV for about an hour per night.

I have an allotment too which is lovely to go to for a break from everyone but not ideal with all the rain this week plus i pulled a hamstring last time i was there while weeding HmmConfused

I’m still going to work (AHP in a hospital) so not having the same experience of lockdown and feeling cooped up in the house, that many others are having. What’s keeping me sane is my garden, and growing veg. If I’m not in the hospital, I just want to be outside, breathing fresh air and connecting with nature. It helps me feel less contaminated and less anxious about being surrounded by Covid patients. My DH is at home all the time with the children and for him it’s about establishing and then sticking to a daily routine. Have also started having a glass of wine every evening (normally only have at weekends). Weekly family quiz night and zoom chats with close friends also important. Finally, not allowing myself to think ahead, just taking one day at a time and limiting social media/news.
