Might have the virus, has anyone else been like this?

Since the 2nd of April I have had a sore throat in and off. It started with it just there when I woke up and would go after I’d had a drink, this lasted about a week then I had one day with a slightly bunged nose the next day was snotty and I felt slightly lethargic and runny nosed coughed a couple of times like a tickly cough on the night but nothing persistent. The next day I was ok again apart from waking with the sore throat. (Which went after a drink) at the weekend I had two days where I didn’t wake with the sore throat but on the second night my voice went hoarse. Another couple of days waking with the throat that went, was a bit bunged up but it cleared after being sniffy. I went to work because the guidance was stay away if you have a cough, temperature or difficulty breathing. As far as I could tell my breathing was the same as usual, I easily get out of breath anywhere rushing up stairs etc (I’d been hoping this would improve with my being going to the gym but it doesn’t seem to have!) and my temperature wasn’t over 38 degrees. I went to the chemist after work for tyrozettes - thought they would clear it as I was getting a bit fed up of it being there every morning. I also started to sleep propped up more in case it was post nasal drip. The 2nd day of Tyrozettes seemed to be working and the third day I was waking without the sore throat. It I was having to clear my throat a lot more and ‘sniffing snot’. Had about 5 days without proper sore throat - I was aware occasionally that my throat wasn’t quite right but was clearing it a lot and lots of throat snot. I coughed now and again but it felt like it was to dislodge fleghm. I also did some singing and that seemed to make it feel sore/irritated so I stopped! A couple of days of it feeling a bit sensitive, then I thought I’d better see if I should be taking something else, as although it was starting to feel not as sensitive (this wasn’t all the time mind, I was just aware of it at moments during the day) I was getting to the point of not knowing is it hayfever, singing with a sore throat has done something, clearing my throat a lot has irritated it? And I was starting to be a bit hoarse sounding if I talked a lot. I filled out a doctors online thing and put my dates and symptoms. I got a telephone appointment and he said ‘it could be corona virus, isolate for 14 days but I’ll also prescribe you antibiotics, antihistamines and an anti inflammatory’
Now he’s said that I’m thinking of other things I had and wondering if they’re linked? Headache - but it was expected at the time of the month and I usually get headaches either weekly or fortnightly anyway too. Flushed cheeks - (now and again) but I think I have roseacea as I get red cheeks and acne that flare up sometimes anyway. Sweating just before I wake up -I thought it was because we still have our winter duvet on. Throughout all this I have been drinking lots of honey/lemon/ turmeric combinations of all teas and sometimes just hot water with honey.
My husband is adamant that it’s not the virus, I’m hoping it’s not, but I’m not 100% certain. I know I should wait to see if the medication will do anything as a test after 5 days isn’t viable apparently.
Has anyone else been like this or have heard of anyone like this?
Sorry it’s a bit long!

Sounds a lot like hayfever plus random other run of the mill stuff to me (as a hayfever sufferer who has - according to hcp not test as there wasn't one then - had covid-19).

Surely first port of call for symptoms like yours is a couple of weeks of antihistamine? Given the current situation perhaps also isolating.

It sounds like your GP has gone for mine sweeper, attack every possibility approach. Not really my cup of tea (with antibiotic resistance having no respect for pandemics) but I can see why GPs are doing it.

I’ve had the same, scratchy throat, having to clear my throat through the day, not coughing, no temp but bunged up, I have bad hayfever and I presume that’s what it has been

I’m hoping it’s hayfever. I haven’t had it for years. I’m just waiting for the chemist to get in touch now so that I can at least be doing something proactive!

Im the same. Pretty sure it's hayfever but isolating anyway.
The doctor said 14 days? Isn't it 7 days for the one with the first symptoms and 14 days for everyone else?

I’ve had the worst hay fever I’ve ever had in my life this year

The pollen count is really high

I've had similar, 2-3 wks headachy, blocked nose, sore throat, neck glands up a bit, tickly cough and assumed it was hayfever. Until I suddenly got a temp of 38.8 felt very wobbly and had to stay in bed for 2 days. Never had a high temp with hayfever before.
A week later and I feel fine.

I didn’t realise that, Yes usually it says 7 days, I don’t know why he’s said 14 then? I think if the meds work I’ll get in touch and confirm when I can be released. (I haven’t had the soreness today just snot down the back and when I coughed it felt slightly painful for less than a minute in my throat.)

@insideyourkit odd isn't it. I had this with the hospital, some people have been told that its 14 days so I rang to check I could go to my hospital appointment on day 10. Took 3 people to get a straight answer which was yes, you can go out after 7 days.

The flushed cheeks make me think it could be. Just stay in anyway I guess.

@HRH2020 I wasn’t aware flushed cheeks was a sign until I saw a chart with it on. Yesterday my cheeks were fine but they are flushed again this morning. 🤷‍♀️

@Treaclepie19 that’s good to know! I won’t be going outside but it will be nice when I can go down and watch my tv programs I have been recording (sewing bee esp!) and also not have to avoid my family!
