Plans for family holiday in UK in August

We were meant to be going on a cruise with my
Mum and siblings families in August. My mum has cancelled this but is now suggesting she books us somewhere in the UK for that same week as we all have the time off work. I didn’t want to seem ungrateful (as she is paying) but said I’m not sure if it will be ok to do that even by August. Her reply was ‘well they’re not going to keep us locked up until August are they’!

I am in a vulnerable group and have had a letter suggesting shielding as much as possible. I think I might be anxious going on hols in August and I’m wondering if most things will still be shut anyway? Even if they’re not, I’m not sure I will want to be in busy public places.

My Mum has had a shockingly bad year and I know how much she wants us to all be together. Also I don’t want to spoil the chance of a holiday for the rest of my wider family.
