I really don’t understand this. They might be able to play football soon, and train for hours together, with quite a lot of people. But teenagers can’t play their weekly 5 a side game, which only lasts 40 mins plus a 5 min half time. And two friends can’t meet up, even at a distance. One rule for some, and another rule for everyone else. It doesn’t make sense.

I would guess players etc will all be forced to self isolate in their mansions for the duration or maybe even put up by the clubs in hotels.

If none of them have seen anyone else for a couple of weeks before it starts, and that remains throughout the remainder of the season, I can’t see a risk.

Same will possibly apply to formula one which is planned to resume in July

Sorry @user1471453601 a millionaire is not forced to play football. They could refuse and still spend the rest of their life in luxury. They choose to play football to get more money, nothing more nothing less. They are not a minimum wage worker trying to feed themselves.

The non football player/coaching team staff often are on minimum wage or not much more. They certainly can't afford to say no. It's a difficult decision. Another poster on a different thread pointed out having football to watch on the telly might help a lot of people cope (and therefore comply) with lockdown and continued social distancing. Behind closed doors is relatively low risk. Minimum staff required. That said, I don't see many clubs being too keen on playing in London or other Covid hotspots.

Well, we don't actually know yet and we won't until Friday's meeting. ATM, they are training individually. It says all this in the article you linked...

I imagine that staff and players will be tested and will isolate as a group, either at the training grounds or club hotels. Matches will be played behind closed doors. Balls will be disinfected. Completing the season isn't just about money either. Supporters of certain teams affected by this do not let injustices lie. The FA will have big problems if they cancel.

I suspect football will be going ahead whether you like it or not. Personally, I think it will be good for morale.

The professional players are training individually. There is a long way to go before competitive matches resume. Let's not get carried away here.

I heard that they will be testing players regularly. That won't happen in amateur five a side. Therefore relatively safe to play.
