Covid

Forecast rain for next week or so....

Im in London and checked the weather and it is forecast to be heavy rain and thunderstorms for at least a week....anyone else dreading this as i have 2 small kids (20 months and 5 months) and getting out for our walk everyday was keeping me and the 20 month old saner!
Since lockdown we have been blessed with lovely weather and i think people are going to struggle more.

The sunshine has made all of this bearable for me. It puts us in a good mood and we’re out in the garden more which helps.
The only good thing that might come of it is that more people will stay inside which is critical at the moment so at least there’s that.

That sounds tough! If it isn’t thundery I would try and get them out anyway - wrap them up in wellies and waterproofs and have a good splashy walk making the most of the puddles.

Yeap think it might be tough, kids get fed up being stuck in when it rains normally but at least you can still visit friends/family etc whereas at the moment you can't.

My children are a bit older and luckily don't mind a wellie walk so unless it's absolutely torrential I'll still be getting my youngest out- plus if he gets soaked he can have a day time bath and a hot chocolate which will make a bit more of the day go by!

I guess we have been super lucky with the weather so far, hopefully the rain won't last too long.

I am fairly close to you and the only really rainy day is tomorrow. Other days I would pop on their wellies and let them splash. Watch Peppa pig before to get them in the mood.

Hilarious. I come out of self isolation tomorrow and it rains. My first long walk for two weeks will be trudge through mud. Oh well, at least it's out.

Abit annoying as it’s dds birthday in a few days so was going to have a garden party . Can’t if it rains so a lockdown birthday and raining

It’s going to make a massive difference, it’s the weather that’s kept all of our sanity intact during lockdown.

Imagine if this lockdown had been in December or we had really horrible weather it would have been a different experience. We have been blessed with lovely weather and even though the situation is shit the nice weather has helped i think.

Dreading it! Have a 2.5yo and a tiny yard so getting out for a walk has been keeping us both sane so far. He's already watched way too much TV since lockdown but he might have to watch a bit more this week 🙈

It is a shame but I hope it will make more people stay in and comply with the lockdown measures.

On Saturday one family a dozen houses up on the opposite side of the road threw a party. There were about 20 of them sat out at tables and chairs on the pavement outside their house. I doubt they'd have done this in poor weather.

Fortunately someone nearby called the police and they were disbursed. Their excuse was it was their teenager's 16th birthday. Bloody idiots.

Before you leave the house, lay out towels and fresh clothes, have the kettle full and a snack ready. And turn on the hot water if you need to (if your system needs heating in advance and there is none at that stage).

Out on wellies and raincoats and enjoy the different kind of walk that it is in the rain. It really is nice!

Then come home and get into hot showers, clean dry clothes and a hot drink and snack.

Make it fun, and the DCs will enjoy it too.

Just be prepared beforehand for the aftermath.

On a personal level, yes it'll be a pain in the bum.... we'll just have to walk in the rain I think!

On a wider level though I'm pleased. I think maybe rainy weather will mean we get a couple of weeks of quite strict lockdown without people sunbathing and playing games in the park. Which might make a difference to our figures.

Sorry but welcome to the real world of people who don't have a garden! This is what it is like for us all of the time. We always go out for our daily walk come rain or shine and that's all we get.

It's tough, its shit but you just have to get on with it. At least you haven't had this for nearly 6 weeks!

It’s no ones fault that others don’t have gardens, a garden was always a priority for me when I had children. No point being annoyed at people because you don’t have one.

On another note I do think lockdown would have been easier in the winter when people don’t want to go out anyway

Puddlesuit? My dd loved stamping in puddles but a little older than this. It depends on your dcs personality.

@PumpkinP no it's not I'm annoyed that you have something I don't, it's the fact people come on and start moaning about rain and we won't be able to go out in the garden. I am saying this is what it is like for millions of people in this country and we have had to adapt so they will too. Is it shit? Yes.

Also I didn't realise some people don't go out in the rain. We do. We always have done.

@PumpkinP just order a small gazebo and crack on with the party. We've got one up at the min, defrosted it with fairy lights and bunting etc it looks really good.

We've been spoiled rotten so far, but yes, it's about to get tough. Even if you can't go out, a bit of sunshine makes things seem better.

I'd still try and get children out daily though. A puddle hunt was one of our favourite things when DC were small.

I had bought a bouncy castle as one of the presents so that won’t work in the rain! Think I will just have to put it up in the living room instead.

Nothing more wonderful than a walk in the rain. Unclench. Relax. Get wet. Come home dry off and snuggle up.

Dreading it with a 2yr old. Though I will say that I have felt the nice weather of what should have been a cluster or bank holidays felt like the ultimate cherry on top of a piss take cake, so
many lost opportunities to fully enjoy the weather.

getting wet is not much of a big deal, really.
the plants really, really need a good soak right now.
