Those lines apparently show a percentage, what are they a percentage of? Its not of use at the start or theyd all be 100%

And it can't be, % of total transport use, as they would always add to 100% and wouldn't all show a drop

It’s % change in activity from the start point on the graph

But as far as I can tell, none/most of the lines didn't start at 100%

So at the start point of the chart, one of the lines was at 80%, another at 30% etc. 80% and 30% of what?

Ah it does say. It’s compared to typical traffic/usage for the Easter weekend. So it will be compared to previous years.

I work for the civil service and there are some graphs like this showing some things as over 100% so I knew it was compared to a point in time.

I think it's because they don't show the dates far back enough to when it was 100%

This one shows it at 28 Feb

Thank you Rhayader that makes sense. I watch on my ipad and they're too small to read properly in the short time!

Actually no coconut looks to be right. Oh this is infuriating.

It says “ Source: Department for Transport. Bus (exc London), TFL tube and Bus data has been adjusted to compare against typical usage for the Easter break, whereas motor vehicles and national rail have not. Data on TfL Buses is not available from Sunday 19th April due to the change in boarding policy.”

So coconuts must have been a different chart where all start at 100.
Have just seen in the BBC coverage that the situation will be reviewed in a couple of wees :o

Ah sorry I’ve over complicated it. It is compared to feb BUT because the Easter weekend moves around they have adjusted to make it a fair like for like comparison 😂

There is a legal limit on how long they can keep the current rules without a review, so there is always a review that is weeks away. I can’t remember if it’s 3 or 4 weeks (not my area).

That makes sense.

Not weeks, wees.
I'm off for the first one now. Second one before bedtime so presumably review by midnight :)
