What (hopefully) minor things should/would you be seeing your GP for if you could, but aren't due to CV?

I have a nagging on and off abdominal pain on the right. Too high to be my appendix. Potentially my gallbladder.
I had an appointment booked after putting up with it for weeks and weeks waiting for it to go away. That got cancelled automatically before the lockdown and as it's not an emergency, I'm clearly not pursuing an appointment. But it's a (tiny) nagging worry for me that it might be something that needs looking into.

toenail has fungal nail infection. but i've been putting off going for ages (years) so it's definitely not urgent. But at this time of year, when I once again consider wearing sandals, I think about getting it seen to.

My ds has today got himself a whopping great splinter of wood in his palm of his hand. It's about a Cm long and jagged and 3mm wide. He will not let me touch it, we've soaked it, we've held him down. I was pondering tonight that this thing is going to get infected if it stays in too long, I've sent him to bed with a plaster and a swipe of sudocrem but realistically he needs it removed either by me or someone else. obviously I wouldn't consider a doctor appointment right now, but how am I going to get it out?

I think I'm peri menopausal. I'm struggling with a load of symptoms but don't want to risk coming out of self-isolation as have a very vulnerable person in our household.

Would also sort DD's dodgy fungal nail.

WyfOfBathe Wed 22-Apr-20 22:40:02

Similar to Wheres, I've had a wart on my toe for a year or so. I haven't bothered seeing a doctor so far but now I'm in sandals again I'm wishing I'd got it looked at!

WyfOfBathe Wed 22-Apr-20 22:42:08

@thenewaveragebear1983 you could try magnesium sulphate paste from a pharmacy? It's supposed to draw out splinters.

I have horrendous acne. I've suffered for 20 years on and off but I'd really like to try a course of antibiotics for it again but it isn't urgent. I have some moles I'm concerned about too, but again, it feels futile at the moment

I've got an incredibly painful tennis elbow. It's on my dominant hand side so really restricting me.

That’s me too!!!

I was due my b12 injection a couple of weeks ago. It won’t be low enough to cause any issues for a few more months but I feel so tired without it.

NothingIsWrong Wed 22-Apr-20 22:44:38

I have rosacea on my cheeks and it's destroying my self confidence. I'd just about worked up the guts to see the GP about it.

Am now buying Soolantra cream online but it's £40 a tube so I can't keep that up for more than a couple of months. It's like a miracle cure though...

Please ring your GP, we’re doing lots of stuff over the phone or by video consultation. And we’re really worried about people not calling and storing everything up for 2-3 month time, which will make our workload completely unmanageable and you’ll all have to wait weeks/months as we’ll be so booked up. Also, we’ll have missed catching important stuff earlier. The NHS isn’t closed for non-COVID stuff. Your fungal toe nails can wait (or buy stuff from the chemist for them) but abdominal pain, please call!

DrMadelineMaxwell Wed 22-Apr-20 22:45:35

Gosh, dd had to have a large splinter removed at A&E once. Keep an eye out for reddening and maybe see what the pharmacist says?

I've had a bad foot since early Feb. I thought it would sort itself but its no better. In agony some days. I just dont feel that it's important enough right now.

WoollyFoolly Wed 22-Apr-20 22:46:42

@ourChristmasMiracle, I had my b12 jab today, some surgeries are still doing them. It might be worth checking again with your surgery, 3 monthly jabs are insufficient for most b12 deficiency patients in the first place so going even longer is not good.

TowerRingInferno Wed 22-Apr-20 22:47:13

Fungal infection on my toenail here too. I was told to grow it out until the nail was big enough to trim off a good piece and then it could be sent off for analysis, with GP follow up appointment afterwards.

Also still waiting for a follow up to see a neurologist for an ongoing neck/arm problem (damaged disc in spine). I’d been waiting over a year as it was. No chance of that happening now.

RefreshingOcean Wed 22-Apr-20 22:48:04

Abnormal bleeding. I've had a smear and blood tests but I was supposed to be seeing a gynae but that's all been delayed now

peppermintcapsules Wed 22-Apr-20 22:48:16

Not a GP issue but I seriously need my eyes checked as my reading glasses need to be stronger.

Bluebooby Wed 22-Apr-20 22:48:37

Wheresthebiffer2 you can buy stuff for fungal toenail infections OTC in the pharmacy.

I'd like to go to the gp and try and get some pain relief for my arthritis as it's really been bothering me recently and nothing I can buy helps. But based on past experience they won't give me anything anyway, so I'm not really missing out.

Bluebooby Wed 22-Apr-20 22:49:34

Oh and I really want a dentist appointment. Nothing urgent but my teeth could do with a clean.

MashedPotatoBrainz Wed 22-Apr-20 22:49:38

My cough. I've had an annoying cough that I just can't shift fully for a long time. I think it's an allergy as piriton really helps but it never goes away fully. I don't know what I'm allergic to as I've never had problems with allergies before. I need to see my GP for testing or something because I can't leave the house anymore without people giving me evils.

Namine20 Wed 22-Apr-20 22:50:05

Smear test, got a letter saying I was due for it a couple of weeks before all this happened and should have booked straight away. Not ideal.

Dentist. Need xrays taken and a check up, same for my son.

Need help for mental health issues and was going to try to seek counselling this year.

Spagbol88 Wed 22-Apr-20 22:50:39

I have an itchy mole at the back of my neck. Should get it looked at really

indemMUND Wed 22-Apr-20 22:52:49

Severe facial eczema. I had normal eczema but that hasn't been a problem for over a decade, it went away. No idea why it's so bad, never had it on my face before. I'm wearing gloves to sleep so I don't scratch. It's livid and peeling. I usually have heavy make up on 5 days of the we

TheNinjaWife Wed 22-Apr-20 22:53:27

I was in a similar position with my B12. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I messaged the surgery via their web site. To cut a long story short they were not too impressed that my jab was overdue, saw me the same day and said that they want to keep things ticking over. The surgery was deserted. This was just after lockdown.
