Covid

It's taking me as long to delete the morale boosting emails as it is to do my actual job!

I work for a caring sharing kind of organisation which is usually a good thing.

However, currently , wfh, there seems to be some sort of competition going on for who can be the most proactive at sending out funny/interesting/helpful memes or articles to boost morale/help us manage our mental health/stay safe.

Then, there is equal competitiveness for who can send the most appreciative or funny reply all response.

I'm obviously being an old grouch but honestly, keeping on top of the nonsense emails is taking ages. Occasionally, there'll be an "oh by the way" regarding something I actually do need to know, so I do need to read them all.

Are other workplaces doing this or are we unique? Grin

I've been sent loads of links to "well-being" resources but just don't have the time to look at them as I've got more work than normal...

Just delete them that's what I've been doing - I am there to work.

No because I’m self-employed and now have no clients so I’m buggered. and not entitled to any government support

However, I am drowning in emails, texts, calls, FaceTimes and Facebook tags from my parents with home-schooling resources/suggestions/ideas. Honestly, I could spend more time helping the kids with their work if I wasn’t drowning in this.

Note: I know they’re just trying to help but honestly - it’s driving me crazy.

If I read every email entitled “COVID Resources” from my organisation I’d never do any work

What did these people who send out these emails do in times BC that’s what I want to know

Unfortunately you have to cast an eye over, they sneaked one in yesterday portending a requirement to take leave in Q2. Waiting for details

Oh gosh yes! We have helpful resources sent multiple times a day. I've not read any!

We also have daily meetings via zoom to discuss how we are all 'coping' and little 'get together' conferences (with people who are usually too busy to even respond to an email) to 'share ideas'. I feel suffocated and don't want to talk about feelings or share ideas any more!!

Please make it stoooooop!!!

I just want to DO MY JOB!!!

Leave me alone to do that!! Pleeeease!!

Oh yes the same!

I have to wade through several ‘good morning, hope you are well’ ‘just checking in’ emails every morning!

Plus those midday ones about not forgetting our stretches.

Do you think it will have been "noted" that I'm not participating?

Hear, hear.

I set my microphone to mute and turn off my video in these Zooms. It’s getting ridiculous.

No I don’t want to talk about how I am coping - or otherwise - with 30 random people Barbara.

Before I was furloughed my boss had taken to sending out links to self improvement courses we could do while business was quiet. At least I've managed to avoid that Grin

Oh yes, the 3 daily exercise breaks were swiftly deleted from my calendar. We also have many many mental health emails which I’m sure are well meaning but come across very patronising, I know to get outside everyday and to eat vegetables without being told!

I hear you. We all work from home, normally meeting up one every week or two which is great. Currently we have 3 zoom meetings a week so everyone can check in/chat with each other. It’s fair to say I dread these - love my coworkers but this delays me getting actual work done, and I’m also having to juggle looking after my DS while the schools are shut. (None of my coworkers are parents) I need to be more efficient right now, not less. None of us live alone and we know each other well enough to just call for a chat if we need one.

Same here! And nothing is useful. I know that Im more stressed than usual and Im trying to overcome it. Yoga etc are just not going to happen. Ive got enough to do with work, DC, homeschooling, shopping, cooking, cleaning etc.

Our manager has installed a 30 minute daily chat. It just turned into a share info about covid and got really boring so I switch off and don't listen (we get contacted if we don't connect).

Ahh we have the 30 minute daily team meetings as well. 90% of the time there’s nothing interesting to discuss so it turns into a quiz or some other nonsense. Don’t even get me started on the Friday evening activities they like to plan as well 🤦🏼‍♀️

My workplace has really strict rules on spam/only work related emails - so we don’t get memes etc.

What I do get is a mix of about ten corporate zoom invites, scheduled webinars or long detailed emails every bloody day.

Mindfulness guidance. Emotional well-being zoom. Working from home effectively webinar. Managing your mental health at home email. Helpful hints for juggling childcare company wide zoom. Morale boosting email from one Exec. Thoughts on the lockdown from the CEO.

Seriously FUCK OFF. These things get auto added to my calendar and appear in my inbox and I need to wade through them and delete one by one. It’s doing my head in.

My work gave the non furlough staff a paycut and then sent a “financial wellbeing” link for us 😂

My financial well-being would be much better if I didn’t have a paycut but thanks 😂
