Covid

I lost my Nan tonight

We lost our wonderful Nan tonight to Coronavirus, she was 94. I am devastated, she was like another mum to me. She lived in a care home due to dementia, because of this we haven't been able to see her for over 6 weeks, she died in hospital without any family member to hold her hand.
My Nan went through many hard times in life, including being taken away from her own country at 16 by the Nazis and not seeing her family again until she was in her 60's. She did not deserve to die alone.
I ask you all to please listen and adhere to the government's advice, just so you don't have feel the heartache we are feeling right now.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I too wish people would look at the numbers and see people rather than statistics. Take care of yourself.

Your Nan sounds amazing and her life fascinating. I’m so sorry it’s over. Flowers

I agree that the real tragedy of the Coronavirus is dying alone. It’s heartbreaking.

I'm so sorry Thanks Sounds like your Nan was quite the lady having lived through so much.

All I can offer is there are threads on here from nurses, they don't leave people alone. I know it's not family. Take care of yourself.

I can also say she would definitely not have died alone. Someone would have been holding her hand and giving her comfort and support, even if it wasn't her family.

I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

My cousin is a covid nurse, she says patients are never alone when they pass. They hold their hands and tell them to imagine them as their family, and they are sure their family will be doing the same.
