Is anyone (or their school) planning to use BBC Bitesize from tomorrow?

I've been reading about the daily lessons that BBC Bitesize are planning to start delivering tomorrow and it sounds really good. We have two children in state primary and one in Y7 at a state secondary. Their schools are doing their best to provide some remote learning, but it is quite fragmented and to be honest with both of us working it is quite difficult for us to keep on top of three different workplans, resources, expectations and ways of submitting work.

I'd actually like for them all to try following the BBC lesson plan instead and seeing how it works, but I don't think there will be time to do both. I was just wondering if some schools are going to be making use of it?

We don't have prior knowledge of what will be on it so schools are going to need to look through it all before making any decisions - if they feel they want something else to use.

Yes. We home ed anyway and I often use BBC resources which are usually very good.

I’ll check it out tomorrow. I’ve seen on twitter that there are errors in quite a few of the maths pages/ videos so check carefully before you use anything.

The errors I saw were about rounding and the incorrect answers given.

I'll definitely be having a look. I home educate 2 of my children usually anyway and anything new and free is worth a look!!

Secondary teacher here. I have spent most of the Easter holidays planning lessons to deliver via Google classroom. I will definitely look at what BBC and Oak Academy have to offer with a view to incorporating some lessons, but I will need to watch them first myself and see how they fit into my planning. I think they are a great idea though, especially for those pupils who aren't currently getting work from their schools for whatever reason.

Our school has given the information to parents as 'a stand alone resource to give the kids a bit more to do' rather than link it to the curriculum at this point.

So, if you have a child that is ploughing through their school work you can give them a little extra or tune into one of the documentaries. Our headteacher's view is every bit of education is a good thing. If it's not strictly the curriculum it's not a problem at the moment as long as they get the core stuff set by the school done.

He's been encouraging parents to use things like Coast to Coast, Mary Beard or Lucy Worsley programmes, Prof Brian Cox, Maths Factor. Anything like that which parents can get on IPlayer or similar is a good thing as far as he's concerned. It's all learning at the end of the day.

I'm doing the BBC bitesize maths with my children today and it seems way too young for the intended age group? Add and subtract 1 for year 2?

@RainRainGoAway2020 yes I thought the same. My dd is really good at maths so this isn't the correct level for her at all and when I posed a few questions at her about +- 1 she could answer correctly each time. I have plenty of maths stuff from her school so I'll continue with that for now but keep an eye on the Bitesize lessons as I'm sure more level appropriate aspects will be covered.

We did use the Bitesize English lesson and my dd really enjoyed it, as well as the Karate Cats grammar game which she played for about an hour.
