2nd wave of a new cough anyone?

I know no one will really be able to advise me here medically but wondering if anyone else has had the same.
Me and my family self isolated for 14 days mid March because I had a new dry cough, sore throat, bad headaches, aching all over, exhausted, burning pain in my lungs, coughing up green/brown phlegm on a morning only once, I ended up being given antibiotics to clear the mucus up, but my doctor spoke to me over the phone and said it was suspected coronavirus, I was very worried about the awful burning sensation In my lungs and chest pains. I definitely felt like it was coronavirus. I felt better probably around day 12.
Other family had milder symptoms a few days after me.
It has been over three weeks where I have felt back to normal, maybe just a mild cough every now and then.
Yesterday I have started again with a dry painful cough, I am just worried now, what if I didnt have it the first time and now I do?
Has anyone else had what they thought was it but then actually got it later?

I struggled with work believing me the first time and as I have to still go to work as a key worker I dont want to self isolate again, but obviously without being tested the first time there is no real way of knowing is there?

There doesn't seem to be anything online to advise in this instance where ive already self isolated.

It’s a new cough, so the guidance is that you should, and your household, should start isolating (again). Unfortunately, without mass testing this is going to the situation for many people who may or may not have it/have had it.

There is obviously a good chance you did not have CV the first time round. Those symptoms are classic of a bacterial infection. No way did you get a diagnosis over the phone and no GP would have been certain. You self-isolate with each instance, not just once.

But I will self isolate again to be on the safe side.

There seem to be quite a few people with prolonged and fluctuating CV symptoms, seemingly better then worse again. Do you mean 3 weeks of feeling completely better though as that would make it less likely, 3 weeks overall very likely.

Three weeks would be the end of my severe symptoms I have had mild sore throat and on and off cough worsening then improving in that time but since yesterday it is a pretty bad dry cough again.

This happened to me too and then my eldest had symptoms too the 2nd time.

Hotlungs what do you think it was? Just that it hadn't cleared up properly from the first time, or that it was something else the first time?

Several weeks ago I had a constant cough, coughing up phlegm all day long, chest painful, temperature for a short while, headache, felt really tired and ill.

I let it go on for about 2 and half weeks as it seemed to get a bit better but just wouldn't clear up. In the end I decided to ring the doctor as I suspected I had an upper respiratory infection.

We did a telephone appointment, he agree that it probably was an URI and prescribed the appropriate antibiotic.

It eventually completely cleared up about a week after I finished the AB.

I do wonder how many people who have self diagnosed CV have actually had it or something else. There's always other viruses doing the rounds and just because CV is all over the news it doesn't preclude people getting ill with other things.

Until we have a reliable test to tell us who has and who hasn't had CV we can pretty much only guess, which isn't helpful for the purposes of leaning how this virus behaving in the general population.

I'm petty certain what I had was not CV, but for all I know it could have been.

I know multiple people who had a very severe bacterial tonsillitis at end of February / early March time, one child was hospitalised briefly with it. So I suspect that's what you had before, or now.

*I know there's a reliable test, I meant that we need a reliable test for the general population who think they might have had it, not just those admitted to hospital.

@TheTigerQueen I’m not sure but DH has now got a cough and mine and DS have both returned. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or the bugs still lingering. Would really like to have the antibody test when they have one to see. The not knowing is awful.
