Covid

Are these Coronavirus symptoms?

Wondering if my daughter has symptoms. It started on Tuesday night with going to the loo several times during the night which is unusual despite not drinking much liquid. Then the next day came bad stomach cramps and lower back pain and needing the loo. By the evening she was freezing cold despite wearing many many layers and wrapped in a duvet, shivering still. Then the following morning woke with nausea then was sick. Had some diarrhoea. Freezing cold and weak and sore all day and sleeping lots, said she feels weird. Yesterday evening headache and aching legs. More chills today, headaches and stomach really weak feeling. She is feeling exhausted and is usually fit and healthy. I don't know if I am getting paranoid. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this sounds like coronavirus or a stomach bug?

Sounds like a stomach bug or food poisoning to me. My daughter had the most terrible cough with high temperature and breathing problems. It lasted three weeks the GC all caught it and coughed until they were vomiting. Guessing she has Coronavirus. She had no gastric symptoms at all.

Honestly, it could be either. It is rare for COVID to just involve gastric symptoms though, so look out for the corona cough and breathlessness developing if it is COVID. Also losing your sense of smell is a common, but not universal, corona symptom.

Just to add I've got COVID and started exactly like your dd. Got the cough on day 6.

@porcupineinwaiting. thanks for your reply, sorry to hear that you have COVID and hope you are feeling better very soon. So you say you started exactly like my daughter, how did the symptoms progress? have you still got the ones mentioned above or did they go once the cough started? also what day are you on now and have you had a test?

Call 111 as a precaution. The lower back pain could be her kidneys and with passing urine more frequently too could be an infection.

Not sure you want me to answer this!

I am on day 31 today. Much better than I was but nowhere near recovered (many people recover in a couple of weeks though) so dont panic.

I started with diarrhoea, nausea and loss of appetite.

Then diarrhoea, chills and a sensation of burning skin across my abdomen and arms (this last is quite rare). Also had terrible oral thrush at this point and a sore throat and nasal drip. Extreme fatigue.

Then diarrhoea stopped, or thrush went, sore throat got better but cough started. Still very fatigued, sensation of burning lungs. Some quite (very) scary breathlessness. Burning skin. Fatigue.

These symptoms have continued, but gradually eased, with sore eyes, ears and acid reflux added for fun. Intermittent chills.

Now I have clusters of good days then dip again, but the general direction of travel is up.

If your dd has COVID, or you think she does, then you can support her by making sure she drinks plenty (and I mean litres) and eats something each day, even if just soup or smoothies. Keep a eye on her temp and breathing and keep her comfortable. After that its just matter of waiting it out, but do call 111 or gp if worried.

And she must rest, rest, rest. Even on days when she feels a bit better. V easy to overdo it and relapse again.

Oh and no, no test. It just became obvious what it was somewhere along the way.

I also ok so think it might be. Best call 111.

It could be but it could also be a nasty urine infection so I would call GP.
