How long before pubs in restaurants open?

I'm assuming these will be last especially pubs as I can imagine they have the potential to be a breeding ground.
Maybe first small shops etc etc
Maybe June for pubs ?

I wish I knew. Me and DH both work in restaurants (both closed now) and we have 3 months left of money maximum.

I think June is optimistic. Yes, they will be among the last things to go back to normal. I can't see it happening by June.

@DuchessOfBeddington haven't you been furloughed?

I'm imagining Sept- Oct maybe for pubs and restaurants.

They will be the very last thing to Open, they are too risky. Too many people in normally a small space and when they first open they will be rammed. You also can’t trust someone who’s been drinking to try and maintain a bit of distance

I reckon restaurants will have to take out some tables to allow some social distancing also, instead of squashing tables together as some do

Cinemas too - maybe by July I hope? Mulan is currently still scheduled to come out then and I really want to see it!

circus. Yes, we have been furloughed but we live in an expensive city, and the savings and available credit we have are being needed to top up the 20% (our employers can not afford to) and also to cover the loss of our tips, which are normally around a minimum of £1000 per month for the 2 of us. Therefore we can’t be furloughed indefinitely without leaving our flat.

September then shut again in December (hopefully to stop the parties and gatherings for Xmas) I’m so nervous about the winter

They will have to have more space between tables and then have to deal with queues or some restaurants reservation only.

Some will be takeaway or collection only for a while. Deliveroo/just eat will be happy!

Don’t get me wrong I am SO grateful for the workers retention scheme, but it’s not enough to pay our bills and rent.

I wonder if it might be October unless they re-open them sooner with extensive safety measures.

I'm looking forward to the table spacing can't stand places where there's 6 inches between tables!

I’m looking forward to more table spacing as well! Can’t stand having to squash into the guest’s space to serve because management have to sell a couple more tables!

I think restaurants will be open a lot sooner than pubs. They can space the tables out and mostly people are seated. Pubs are hot sweaty places - ideal for spreading the virus - and usually busy and generally the whole point is to socialise with a group of people.

June?! Dream on! That's the very earliest any kind of easing of restrictions is possible and even that I think is hugely optimistic.

I suspect that actually most places will remain closed until at least September when I think there will be pressure on the govt to reopen the schools and for other activities to restart. And even then it will be businesses considered "important" rather than the leisure industry.

I think that sort of thing won't be reopening until December.
