Sorry if this has been discussed on a previous thread but it’s quite a simple question.

Why are our lockdown measures not as strict as any other country in Europe? Unless I’m wrong? But in Spain and Italy - they were on complete lockdown. They weren’t even aloud further than 50m from there home for exercise so why isn’t it the same for us?

Spain and Italy were facist countries. The population respected it more and they have in Spain 3 arms of policing. My aunts and uncles live in Spain.

Ok that makes sense. I’m not asking for a complete lockdown, just wondered.

It's not like that here in Germany. We are actually a bit more free than the UK by the sounds of things. We aren't allowed to use play areas and so on but we can exercise outside of our homes as much as we like. People are supposed to observe social distancing, but the police aren't going around all heavy handed. If it's obvious somebody doesn't understand or something they just tell them to go home. People taking the piss e.g. organising mass public parties have been getting fined, though.

Our public transport is mostly running as normal for anybody who needs it although the drivers are closed off from the passengers.

Some less-essential shops are re-opening here on Monday next week. Things like office goods and gardening supplies.

Our lockdown measures are not less strict than any other country in Europe.

Italy and Spain and France have stricter measures, but that's not all of Europe, that's three countries!

Our measures are stricter that in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and lots of other countries.

Our government is making the decisions it feels will work best for us. We won't know if those decisions are right or wrong for a while yet.

The UK’s are stricter than some and not as strict as others. Germany and Austria continued to allow groups of up to five to socialise; Sweden didn’t implement any real social distancing. Different countries made their own decisions according to their own internal health advice.

I’m not sure why some people think only being allowed to exercise within 50m of your home is any better than being allowed to exercise freely - if you tried to enforce that in, for example, London, you’d end up with more social contact, not less, because of population density.
