Hi. Have been trying to get through to the Tax credit helpline today, but it just keeps cutting me off. I've just checked my account and for some reason they have given me 2 payments. One dated the 15th April, one dated the 16th April. Both fir different amounts. When I log in it is showing the payments with a note saying 'one off payment'.

The only change I have let them know of is that I'm no longer paying after school care. The letter they sent confirming this and showing what my payments should be for tax year 2020_2021 are different amounts to what's showing online.

Has anyone else had a double payment or know if any changes i may have missed. Am worried sick about this and cant get to speak to anyone

Don't worry at all. I had this a couple of times in the past. It wasnt a mistake, but did say one off payment if I remember right. Just don't spend it at the moment if you are worried. All they can do is take it back.

It’s because it’s the end of the tax year nothing to do with Covid 19.

Yes. I had one today and one yesterday. It's because it's a new tax year. They recalculate your claim and pay you what's owing. It's fine.

You usually end up with an extra payment in april..end of tax year so its just balancing things out.Wink
