When the lockdown is over...

About 10 days before we went into lockdown I was starting to get worried about being in a large open plan office and all the risks that entails. (Both my DH and I have underlying health issues that would be really bad if we caught it) I spoke to my line manager and my worries were basically poo-poo'd, however they very begrudgingly said I could WAH if my MH was being affected. I was made to feel as if I was making a huge fuss about nothing, but I insisted, so started WAH about a week before lockdown (we WAH a few days a week anyway). Now of course everyone is WAH but now I have another dilemma. I am concerned that when lockdown is lifted it will be 'everyone back in the office' and we will be back in the position we were before all this kicked off. I can see the virus going back up again and I am really concerned we may catch it. I genuinely believe if I got it I may not survive. I really don't know how to handle this. Our job can easily be done at home (as we are all doing it now at home) so I don't know why we couldn't do it until things are more settled. Do I make a fuss and WAH or suck it up?

Just ask to WFH permanently. I can't see that they would object in the current climate. Things aren't going to go back to the way they were before, not for a long while anyway.

They’ll almost certainly take “underlying health issues” much more seriously coming out of lockdown than they did before. Awareness is better.

Did you make your WFH arrangements directly with HR? I’d deal with them if you can, rather than line manager.
