How to get Sainsbury’s online to recognise DP as vulnerable

Just that really, I can’t get delivery slots for my parents, at all. I log in with their details, registered their nectar card, they’ve received the letter and I registered them on the .gov site but still Sainsbury’s are not identifying them as vulnerable.

What can I do? Morrison’s and Iceland have no slots either

I had the same issue with the account I'd set up for my mum. After having no luck getting through using the number that was up on the Sainsbury's website, I tried the 0800 052 5500 number recommended by another mumsnetter. Got through immediately. They wouldn't talk to me as the account wasn't in my name, so I had to get mum to phone them and tell them she was on the shielded list. I think she said she just had to confirm her name and address (and possibly the email address I set up for her!). The next day I was able to access the delivery slots for her.

You may have to make the point that she is on the government ‘extremely vulnerable’ shielded list.
They may think you are saying she is just on the ‘vulnerable’ Of which you wouldn’t get the priority slots.

My mum rang the 0800 number after it was closed for the night, after 11pm I think it was and left a message which asked her for her nectar card number and they rang her back the next day and put her on the list.

I did it on the automated number on their website, they check against the Gov list. You need the nectar card number and a recent online delivery number. Once you’ve been accepted they send a text.

are they on the shielding list? criteria below. If not then they aren't classed as extremely vulnerable. I'm a GP and have spent much of the last week telling people that they aren't on the list. Being elderly, having things like Parkinson's or asthma doesn't necessarily put you on the list.

Solid organ transplant recipients who remain on long term immune suppression therapy.
People with specific cancers:
people with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radical radiotherapy for lung cancer (this includes those who have had chemotherapy in the last 12 months)
people with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma who are at any stage of treatment
people having immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments for cancer
people having other targeted cancer treatments which can affect the immune system, such as protein kinase inhibitors or Poly ADP Ribose Polymerase (PARP) inhibitors
People who have had bone marrow or stem cell transplants in the last 6 months, or who are still taking immunosuppression drugs
People with severe respiratory conditions including all cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD.
People with rare diseases and inborn errors of metabolism that significantly increase the risk of infections (such as SCID, homozygous sickle cell).
People on immunosuppression therapies within the last six months, sufficient to significantly increase risk of infection
People who are pregnant with significant congenital or acquired heart disease.

Is it not just that there aren’t any slots when you look?

You definitely get a confirmation text or email, but you do have to keep checking back for slots. They only release a few day’s at a time.

You have to have registered on the govt site for extremely vulnerable people. You need to tick the box that says you dont have any help from friends, family etc to get your shopping.

When I did that last week, Tesco responded within a couple of days and I was immediately able to get access to a delivery slot on easter Sunday.

I've only just had an email from sainsbury's to say I am now on their list for priority slots but theres still nothing available

Yes they are on the shielded list, I registered them on the .gov site when the advice was first published.

After a hour on hold I got through to Sainsbury’s, they completed a form and advised that it might take a few days to get the notification that they can book slots. So fingers crossed it will work.

registering them on the govt site doesn't mean they are on the shielded list. Loads of our patients did that and they aren't. They have to fit one of the criteria I posted before. Asthmatics have to be on regular oral steroids or have a history of v severe asthma e.g. ITU and people with COPD have to be a triple inhaler. I am taking multiple calls per day from people who think they are on the shielding list and actually aren't.

Lockdownstress they are on the shielded list and have more than one chronic conditions that you have listed. They have received a letter confirming their status.

Yes hopefully that will work. I am on the shielded list - and have had the letter confirming this, and registered on the .gov site several weeks ago - and initially really struggled to get onto the Sainsbury's list. The person I eventually managed to speak to said that I'd be emailed a link within 48 hours, but this never happened. DH tweeted Sainsbury's customer services several times and didn't seem to get anywhere. Eventually in desperation I took a guess at the CEO's email address and sent a begging email! Blush The following day, having heard nothing, I tried again to get into the website and this time I could get in and was able to get a delivery slot. The day after that I received a text stating that I'm now on their list. They've been extremely good since, so it really is worth persevering. I hope the phone you call with them will have worked.

Making progress, they have now been recognised by Sainsbury’s so can book slots but there is none, I will keep trying.

The slots come up randomly, and are only ever for the next few days. Early morning is good time to try. I couldn’t get one for a few days then suddenly there were a lot available. Good luck.
