This really is an embarrassment when highlighted as above.

We need minimise the language of ‘war’, ‘fighting an enemy’ - as though crept upon us completely unaware - and start focusing on the clear public policy failures over the last few months. Failures which are still taking place, and which terms like ‘our NHS’ are designed to sugarcoat.

It is but I believe we’ve been failed by the whole global establishment. It was clear in early February what we were headed for, where were the media? Why didn’t the WHO recommend travel bans and stricter measures?

Also the British public were happy to shout down concerned people saying ‘its only flu’ even as late as March. Even doctors I spoke to in early March were saying it wasn’t concerning them.

Jesus. It looks so farcical in black and white till you realise these are people who should still be alive.

Look, everyone makes mistakes. The wrong people were making decisions, they needed mathematicians not politicians. The important thing now is to test as much as possible and get it under control. Nothing else matters. Good luck x

Sorry that looked like I was excusing it, I didn't mean it that way. They just need to get on board with the testing now and not to dwell on the mistakes.

The biggest mistake they made was to treat it like a flu.

There was so much information from East Asia they disregarded. Information the likes of New Zealand and Denmark and Australia did not.

Agree OP.
We were told to "take it on the chin" and are paying the price with lives for these failings.
