Tidying constantly or not bothering? How to manage in lockdown

I am really struggling to keep our house even vaguely tidy. Tbh I struggle at the best of times but with all of us now home it is impossible! I feel like I don't want to spend all my hours tidying while my kids (6 & 9) and husband are busy relaxing. Don't get me wrong they are all helping but just not enough - so when they stop I could easily keep going for hours and often do. and then feel resentful.

Are you keeping up with housework and if so how? Are you getting the kids to do more than usual? Has anyone got any good tips on how to take it on as a family? This is a major thing that annoys me - why is it my role?! We are all home! But no one else seems to see it or be bothered by it and they all seem happy in a semi tip. Should I chill tf out and just ignore the mess or carry?! How are you all coping?

I let the kids make a mess in the morning, and then we have a big tidy up before lunch. Try and get them outside as much as possible in the afternoon so there is less mess but there is always mess anyway! And so have another tidy up before tea.The house is by no means tidy but it does help

We get 2.5 year old to put his toys away before bedtime

We do a weekly full clean and just spot clean between.

Very much as we were before lockdown.

There more spot cleaning as there’s more crumbs from all the biscuits and toast Grin

I've kept to my usual routine which is get up, shower etc then have a clean of downstairs. We are you by nature though so no big mess just a quick dust/vacuum and put on laundry, empty dishwasher. I'm still trying to avoid cleaning the bathroom like always BlushGrin

Yes they already keep on top of keeping their rooms tidy its just general chaos downstairs i always seem to struggle with. Good idea re tidying up before lunch and then again at the end of the day. I need to put my foot down and make it more of a 'right everyone' so we all do it together. It doesn't help that they almost don't see it - the shoes lying about, the discarded jumper, the cups etc. I guess I just keep reminding and try and get some good habits in place :) I am aware I am getting it pretty wrong at the moment :(

We follow the organised mum method and are still sticking to it between the two of us (kids a bit to young to help beyond tidying toys away). So today we have done the living room big clean/tidy, tomorrow I will do the bedrooms, wed hallway, Thusday kitchen and just chucking toys in the toy bins and wiping down kitchen worktops each night (well ok a billion times a day) to keep on top of it all.

This way we still don't have to do much at the weekends. Only thing that keeps me same with being stuck at home and all the ensuing mess.

I've gone a bit weird and am quite obsessed with keeping the downstairs very tidy. I feel a bit sick and out of control if i walk into a room and it's a mess :(

There's a lot of us in this house (youngest is 6 oldest is 82) and i'm going a bit bonkers keeping up my own standards.

AND i seem unable to get on with other things which need doing and were started before lock down. Like finishing stripping wallpaper in one of the bedrooms.

I lack motivation but can't look at mess.
